The new thing is that we Will fit the rears also...
Haven't seen that done yet. And I fitted 335 rear brakes on my 330. Same size of the parking brake. It depends on your rearwheel bearings. There are 2 sizes. Mine was the same as the 335....

Found your thread... And based on your comments in the thread, i Will not buy the kit.
I just upgrade the rotors and pads instead.

If is possible for you combine the front f30 with rear e87 rear. That would be a better match for your car. |

Its not legal here either.
But my car is not legal as it is. So....removed PDF and tuned aprox 40%. That is not legal here in denmark. Whats the size of the E87 rear brakes? I have upgraded them to 335's, 330mm. Are the E87 brakes better? have more pistons or?

It has two pistons and the calipers are cheap. http://www.carid.com/2013-bmw-1-seri...Fc9cMgodyVsAlg This caliper was designed for this platform e87/e90 so it will be lighter set up then stock, so less unsprung weight and better fit than f30 rear which are overwhelming the system. Looking at CTSV Brakeswap and I actually started a thread. I don't want the OEM 335 Brembo setup. Too much for too little. I'd rather have the CTS-V setup even if I need to go to an M3 master cyl. Besides the brackets what needed machining? Can I get a copy of the drawings for the brackets to have a local CNC shop make me some?

4 rotors, 4 calipers, 4 calipers that needs to be machinated with adverse effect on integrity, 4 brackets to be machined, 4 rotors that according to the photos won't be optimally used, a lot of rotor area not being used buy the pads 1 new master cylinder You don't think is cheaper, better, safer just to buy something already designed by engineers and available? What people sometimes don't realize is that a OEM caliper is the same casting or very close to a radial mount aftermarket caliper. If you know where and how to machine them, there are no structural concerns whatsoever. |

f30 370mm rotors are about $650 shipped. Then you still need to machine the calipers, machine brackets, and get the rest of the parts. Automatically, you are over $1.5k for "lego" kit At that price you can just buy the front f30 kit which is straight bolt on. You are looking at around the same cost for the rear axle. Each it's own I guess. I was quuted $4.2k for F&R stoptech |

Seems like a lot of rotor surface area is not being used by the pads, especially in the rear. |

Rear rotors and pads are almost perfect match. Fronts have some unswept area, but even after a couple years and lots of winter driving, there isn't a rust ring on the rotors. Corrosion protection on the large BMW front rotors is surprisingly excellent. |

Well, some people just like to make their own parts. It's not always about saving a thousand dollars or more. 12 years ago I could have just paid Active Autowerkes $12,000 for an E36 M3 turbo kit, but instead I made my own for half the price and it performed better as well. It's just what real car guys sometimes do! |

I don't expect every single one to have the equipment and the know-how to build their own kits. I have build kits myself in the past and don't believe that buying something off the shelf would strip my masculinity. Perhaps is better if I just leave off this car talk. |

Frankly, I applaud every one who are willing to tackle a DIY project. They're fun and informative. But to DIY engineer BRAKES? I don't think I see enough informed posters on this board with enough know-how that should tackle a custom, scratch built system. 99% of the posters I see on this forum has zero clue. That's like saying why go to a doctor to diagnose your chest pain when you can do it yourself by reading up on the intarweb and self medicate? Saving money is one thing. Throwing money away because you don't know what you're doing (and I don't mean YOU specifically, but the VAST MAJORITY of the posters here) by buying stuff that isn't designed to work on your car, only to have to go find the expertise to grind and machine and cut and swap out more parts just to find out that it doesn't perform as well as your original parts, and pose a high risk to your safety on a daily basis? Computeth, thou dost not. There's a lot more that goes into a "big" brake kit than just slapping some calipers that may or may not fit on a car.
