HELP! D; Thermostat and electric water pump fail???

It's -10 degrees outside when the water temperature warning showed up. First it was yellow, then turned red..... The engine fan was also going erratically loud.

Also, I was doing about 60, chilling on the right lane, taking my time....

Are these the symptoms of a failed water pump that's apparently common amongst N52?????

I'm legit-ly scared right now.......

It was working perfectly yesterday. And now I got this:

(on iPhone, will post pics later)

So, after arriving at my destination (thankfully not all that far) and parked the car for 2 hours, and then started the car again, i got another code. I assume its the coolant this time...

Also, there was absolutely ZERO heat in the AC, and the dash said it was -14 degrees outside, when weather is saying around -8...

I have now over 118,000 km on the car.

Yes - nothing to be scared about.. it is definitely , 100% the waterpump.

Mine blew last month and I got the waterpump and thermostat replaced for $975 out the door (taxes and all fees in)

Not a big deal. Just don't drive the car and get it towed to the dealer and get it done.

Yup same thing happened to me. if the engine really gets hot the first symbol will turn red. Can be fixed easily. I would only do the pump, my thermostat was still 100% ok.

Hopefully you didn't drive it too far when you first had the warning. Apparently if you overheat and keep driving you can potentially warp the engine block and head.

Yeah - they call it Package Pricing.. $975 all in. I would assume it's cheaper in the states.. 1.4K is a HELLUVA lot.

I could get so much other shit done for that kinda money!

On the BMW.ca web site you can see the price for the pump only: 671$ + tx.

Don't worry about that - go in and tell them you need all the work done together and they do "package pricing" waterpump and t-stat including labour is done under $1000.... if you paid over... you got ripped off
