Good Idea OR Not So ...
Car met it's reserve just waiting for buyer to pick up ...
Currently thinking of buying a 4x4 probably - LR Discovery LR Defender / 90 Jeep Wrangler AND a Seven Type Car (probably Robin Hood or Westfield) may not beable to get straight away but a lot earlier than still running MR2T, depending on the car this summer to this winter.

I'm getting deja vu. What do you need a 4x4 for? |

4X4s are cheap to insure (seriously what else can I get as everyday transport for £400pa insurance), have nice big V8s (OK, OK some are diesel), can go off road (I'm not an off roader but know people who are really rather into it, could be fun so long as I can get someone to wash the car after!)
Then I'm saving for a Seven anyway so why not have one earlier? A Seven will never be my everyday car (only for a couple of months if we have some sort of heatwave, please hurry up global warming then it'll be Seven time 7 days per week!)

A Ford Ka would be far cheaper to buy and insure. The Seven would then arrive far quicker. Reality check !!!!!!
Porscha, you change your cars quicker than I change my underwear!!! |

You would be sick of a 4x4 within a week.

Maybe, probably the same with most things shouldn't lose any money on the ones I mentioned though Not into these what my mum calls "toy" 4X4s.

I'd hate to throw money down the drain on a stop gap car that's stopping me getting what I really want sooner than later. A FWD Ford will drive and handle far better than any Land Rover / Disco will.

I don't doubt it for a second.
Don't see how £100 a year makes any difference really! Also maybe thinking MX5 1.8 or MGB GT as an everyday car.

No, I'm not saying that.
I was mainly asking if a Seven with a 4X4 was a good idea, not anything else, I do live in what most people would class as a fairly rural area / county. Considering I'm saving for a Seven and have had a '44 and an SC, I don't see how I won't achieve anything, not overnight no I'm not even asking for that because I've been there and it didn't work out, should have stuck with my old B wish I had but you don't experience new things until you try, do you?

Still with the Summer coming I'd go for the Westy sooner than later. You have also had an MX5 and MG. Try something different Fiat X/19, Alfa Spider, Jensen Healey etc..... |

Would love to go for one now but could only afford one as only car and don't much fancy that (won't fit it all stuff all the time / motorway can't be great in one / weather) most back to basics car I've had on it's one was probably MG Midget or my first B (1964 pull handle).
Different was this 4X4 idea .... wrong time of year for it I suppose really! Fiat X/19 will have a look Spider won't get one in budget (only looking at £2K so I can top up the ol' Seven fund!) Jensen Healey £2K??? Would love a TR6 but can't buy one of them.

If you REALLY need something for motorway use buy something exec and old. An old vauxhall senator would do the job. |
