Insurance and recovery

BMW Assist about to run out as is insurance.

So far BMW insurance is coming up best - tried most of the usuals. Some slightly cheaper but they'll palm me off with a dodgy body shop and cr4p loan car if something happens. Any specialist companies I should try?

And for recovery - is BMW Assist worth it or is it just rebranded AA cover (or similar)? Got "any car" roadside cover with the AA mainly for the other car but it will cover this one too. Not sure if I need to pay any more?

If you already have breakdown cover of one sort I wouldn't bother doing anything else. Re. cheaper insurance sending you to dodgy venues - you can insist on a repairer of your choice, not theirs.

Aren't swiftcover the ones with dodgy terms, including one that says they reserve the right to use 'recylced or repaired parts to fix your car' whenever possible?

Back on thread.... I think BMW assist is their own product as BMW vehicles and technicians attend, but if they are too busy you will get an RAC man instead if I recall correctly.

I bought basic AA recover-to-home-or-destination when mine ran out last time, about £45.

Missus has AA too.

Insurance? Who knows? - try 'em all, but read the small print.

Sainsbury's were best for me by miles, the only one close to a £1000 (which is cheap for us with dodgy postcodes) and they give decent car, legal etc and proper repairers.

It's an "insured" warranty not a proper one so no thanks. If the car goes pop, I pay for the damage. If I get an insured warranty and need to claim, I pay almost £700 for the privilege. If I get one but nothing goes pop I pay £450 a year for nowt.

Dough - Swift came out cheapest (£420) but BMW is only £460 and they do proper repairs at my local dealer.

Might just stick with the AA cover then - cheers!
