Has anyone on here tried this?? Seems pretty big in the U.S. & Canada but not so this side of the pond. I know you can buy regular plastidip here but they don't seem to do the metalizers etc. Some nice kits on this guys site and "how to" projects

I wouldn't do the entire car but I did my window trim and grille. Actually looks nice and for $30, it's a lot cheaper than getting it vinyl wrapped or purchasing a new grille. The finish seems to smooth out more after a few days of driving.

Not sure about the whole car either but for small parts & the likes of stock winter wheels etc might be ok.

That is what I planned for wheels.
But I could not find a suitable colour.

I had a go at plastidipping my wheels yesterday.

The plan was as they needed refurbed I would try out what they looked liken gloss black before committing to any colour changes!

What a mare!! Things were going swimmingly until the can starting leaking all over the wheel - that messed up two wheels totally. Then the glossifier eventually dried to a satinish finish just. And then to top it off, the wheel nut snagged a bit and twisted it off. And CSL alloys are a awful wheel to paint - lots of patchy bits!

I'll be pulling it off at the 1st opportunity!!

Sounds like a horrible experience. The guy "Fonzy" from dip your car has a project video on black plastidip wheels with gold metaliser, which looks good but can only see gloss finish on UK plastidip site not metaliser.

I was at Mod Nats this weekend & this had been done to several cars, with different levels of success, i have to say from a distance they looked great but up close like bird s##t had been polished into the paint...i'd avoid but its your choice & if your confident in the product try it on something small first

I actually was curious about this stuff, since I wanted to see what black rims would look like prior to purchasing, I decided to spray my 313's, came out much better than expected, impressed so far with durability, took it to the spray wash as well with no issues, it has been on the wheels for about a week.

That looks pretty decent, where did you buy the plastidip from? How many were needed?

Thanks, I don't think I am going to buy new wheels now, ha, saves me about $2K. We can get it from one location in Canada, for $20, but the U.S. has it at Costco, Home Depot, for $4.99/can. I used 3 cans which gave me 4 coats on the wheels.
