Thanks a bunch for the recognition, guys - it's nice to know these are making everyone's installs easier... And let Rick know that I appreciate the praises. Means a lot coming from such a high end shop!

Spacers arrived at my house in 4 days and I was impressed - they look to be very well made. Assuming fitment is dead-on (as I am sure it is by previous comments), this is a great deal.

Well worth it compared to the expense, time, and effort it would take to make a likely lesser-quality product yourself!

Finally was able to do the install and these spacers were perfect. Thanks again JT for making these! They really helped out. Here are some pics. You can barely even see them in the second pic because of the fitment and black color!

Thanks for all of the comments, guys! And great pics of the install - definitely shows just how easy the spacers make the installl. Glad these are proving to be beneficial to the community!

Hi All,

Ordered the spacers and got them shipped to the UK.

They arrived quickly considering.

I have had issues with the fitment. I had to file the inside of the spacer around a fair amount and now am not entirely sure that the speaker enclosure is fully sealed. I used the screws to pull the speakers tight down onto the spacer afer filing the inside of the spacer down and managed to strip one of the threads in my enclosure.

Great idea and I am sure this may be a one off, or related to my subs. They were SWS-8X's, if this makes any difference.

The vendor is a nice guy and I am sure there is some sort of explanation, perhaps related to my speakers or some other issue which does not seem to affect others.

I've been looking around the forums for something like this, and these look perfect for simplifying the SWS 8 install.

Presumably you'll ship to Australia?

PM coming your way

For those who ended up getting new longer bolts... Can you tell me what size (length and thread) longer bolts and how many I should get, so I have everything ready to go?

Hi Jtsherri, just wondering if you still have some spacer sets available. I would need one sent to the UK. I currently cannot see the PM option by clicking on your name tag.

Hopefully will get sorted soon, and will PM you for a set.

I do still have some and can ship to the UK; however, I can't post details here. Either hit me with your email address or post a couple more times. I believe once you cross 5 or 10, you'll be able to PM other members.

Thanks!

Thanks, I'll do that. Bye the way, do you know why sniffer had problems with his install? Do earthquake have different specs for the sws-8 range, dimension wise. I know sws-8xi is for the 2Ohm, but what is the difference between sws-8 and sws-8x

Thanks

I'm honestly not sure. I've not had a chance to hunt down the templates for both speakers to see if they differ, at all; however, I can tell you that every spacer is cut out using the same, original template as the first one, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Matt's been in contact and is planning on trying the other SWS subs to let me know if he still has an issue. I've had a few sets ship out from the most recent batch I've received, so really can't begin to guess what caused his issue.

Dude you won't need longer bolts, you just need to be stronger than a schoolgirl to press down and screw in the stock bolts.

LOL! Thanks. Though with two spacers now between the grill and the enclosure, I could see how technically there's more distance between them and longer screws might be needed. Guess they won't screw in as deep into the enclosure, but good to know it should still work.

Hi again everyone,

I have today replaced my subs (SWS-8X's) for the 2 Ohm versions (SWS-8XI's).

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=369213

As above, when I got my spacers, they did not fit properly around my subs. I thought it was possible that these were somehow out of tolerance.

On my thread I have posted a picture of the spacer over the template for the SWS-8X series subwoofers. (see my thread)

It is therefore pretty clear that the SWS-8X series subwoofers are larger.

Therefore, the quality of the spacers were not an issue, they just do not fit, without some adaptation, the later subwoofers.

However, after finding an easy way to adapt them, I must say I would not do the job without them.

Anyone considering the job, should defo buy the spacer set from Jason.

Thanks again Jason, however, if you are so inclined, it may be an idea to make a seperate spacer for sub to enclosure for the X series subs.

Thanks for the kind words... I really appreciate them AND the information! Also, nice work on the install - it looks great!

Regarding the XI series subs, I'm not sure if you'd be willing, but I'd most definitely be willing to pay for both postage and the template, if you'd be game to send it to me.

I'm not sure how much interest there would be in spacers for the XI series subs; however, it'd be nice to keep it around in the event that I received more requests for them.

Thanks again!

Sorry, I'm confused now, so are the templates then made for the XI 2 ohm subs, and don't fit the X (4 ohm) versions as well, or vice versa? I thought most people have had the X version subs so far and were using these templates with them without issues?

Yikes - I mixed them up myself. These are most definitely for the 4 ohm, X version, NOT the XI.

Thanks for the correction!

For me, the spacers did not fit either the X or XI without a fair bit of modification in terms of opening up the internal diameter by around 6mm.

I assumed this was because the spacers were made for the original SWS with the white cone.
