Starter Job, Trans in LIMP mode *** HELP**

PROBLEM FIXED: See below

Hey guys,
I have read other forums on this topic and to no help that i can see.

I have a 2006 330i E90 with N52, 113k miles, prod 10/2005

The car had a bad starter. I replaced it with a new starter but upon the initial removal of the intake, I yanked too hard on the crankshaft sensor and broke the plug. To be careful i replaced the crankshaft sensor, plug and also had to rewire it, matching the wires with the camshaft sensor. I DID accidentally arc the crankshaft wire on the starter. I always disconnect the battery before any job but i was in troubleshooting mode and just had a brain fart.
I then double checked all connections, plugs, and vacuum lines from removing the intake. The battery died from leaving in acc mode for two long with the OBD computer, so i had to jump start it.

Upon engine start, its a long crank and idles fine but Mil threw these codes:

P1727 trans
P0035 crankshaft sensor
P0700 trans

My mil dash light up like a christmas tree. Can anyone help me with this? I am at my troubleshooting wits end here.

*****FIXED
> Replaced Crankshaft sensor, rewired crankshaft sensor plug, replaced idol control fuse, and cleared trans and engine codes with IMPA. Shes back! I took the intake off no less than 15 times, so if anyone needs help PM me!

You probably fried your crank sensor when it arced. That would throw those codes. After you replace the sensor you will need to clear transmission fault codes. Can you do that?

I replaced the crank sensor brand new because i arked it. I absolutly hate northside imports in San Diego but they always have the damn part i need. I reset all mil codes on acc mode before starting the car. after starting with a long crank it threw the codes again. The process can be repeated.

I looked at the wiring diagram and didn't see a fuse between the crank sensor and DME. Hopefully you didn't fry that.

thats like $1200 i think on realoem....dear i hope not. if thats the case im just gonna set the car on fire and let the insurance figure it out (hick warranty plan). but do you think i fried the cam sensor when arking the crank sensor? they both have the same PN. Do they have to be replaced in tandem? any other test that i can do to troubleshoot?

I've seen used ones for less on ebay you would just need to program it with the car's vin but before you do that, is the crank consistently long and what kind of scan tool did you use to reset the codes? I never had much success resetting fault codes until I used INPA. Would it tell you if the faults are currently present? Just want to eliminate every possible culprit before replacing the DME. Also I don't think cam sensors are wired in tandem with crank sensor but ill have to check.

i used a standard obd, but i only used INPA to code with NSC Expert. how do use INPA it to clear the DME? I will do some research.

Open INPA, select E90 using either F9 or Shift+F3 depending on the version you have, select Engine, MSV70, F4 for error, F2 for details. Then print that page using the print button on the bottom or PrtSc to copy an image of the page so you can save it elsewhere for reference. Note whether or not faults are currently present. Clear the faults using F5.

Ill check the wiring diagram again to see if your arcing issue could've affected the trans module but I don't think so. I would say DME at this point because that can cause seemingly random errors to pop up but hopefully I'm wrong. It would be great if someone would chime in with a second opinion before you take any action on the DME.

Does anyone have a schematic for the crank sensor wiring? Or at least a breakdown for the yellow, orange and blue?

Durr I feel retarded. I was looking at the N54 engine diagram, looks like you have a fuse:

The fuses you are referring to are F11, F76, and F03? Do those apply to just 2007+? I have a 2006 but I will double check the fuses and wiring order just to be sure and i will report back! thanks for the help guys.

The diagram shows what dates the different fuses apply to next to the fuse.
