Door Lock Actuator
Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my 2011 e92 where my doors will not unlock electronically and I have to use the manual key to open the doors. This is also happening with my gas cap and I have to go inside the trunk to open it. I took the car to BMW and they quoted me $1100 to replace the door actuators and are saying that it wont guarantee that the gas cap problem will be fixed. Has anyone experienced a problem like this? If so, how much did you pay to fix it. They are saying this problem is not covered under my CPO warranty for some reason. |

I doubt all of the door lock actuators went bad. It might be a blown fuse or the lock control module went bad, I think it might be called CAS3. Do you have comfort access?

unplug the module, replace the fuse, if if blows it's not the module. It could be one of the door lock actuators that is causing the fuse to blow also. Could be a short in the wires, etc... Time for you to get dirty and start diagnosing it yourself or pay indy to do it.

Sounds like one of your door lock actuators has malfunctioned, overloading the system and causing a fuse to blow. There are two write-ups in the DIY section. One deals with replacing the actuator and the other one is for actuator repair. An SIB is included in the repair DIY. BMW suggests a bandaid solution by replacing the blown 15A fuse with a 20A. The actuators are fairly easy to replace if you have the DIY gene. I ended up repairing mine for free.
