My 40th was in early August, and my best friend Jack came to the party, I think it was 750ml Jack. He was gone in the morning (or at least when I finally stirred from bed)

A few weeks later, my coworker also turned 40. Jack was there again. He was gone again in the morning. I freaked the cat out hurling that time, or so the story my wife tells goes. Hurl once, cat comes creeping in toward bathroom to see what's up. GAK like a mofo and the cat is skidding in reverse to get away.

I still laugh, but sometimes it still hurts.

Anything aged in oak gives me extremely bad headaches - I think I'm allergic to whatever dissolves out of the oak and ends up in the drink.

Isn't that odd? That so many people enjoy the flavor of whatever alcohol- and water-solvent compounds are in oak? Why oak instead of ash or hickory or some other hardwood?
