Airtex (Wells) Injectors?

Was looking around on Rock Auto and noticed they had a listing for Airtex part number 4G2153 as replacement fuel injectors.

Can't find much on google, and found nothing here.

Anyone have any information on these as alternates to OEM parts?

Rock Auto price is $96.79 a pop.

Thanks!

I've never seen those injectors. This is an interesting find. The information on Rock Auto web site for this part number is very limited. It does not tell us if the injector comes with the decoupling element or not. Also, we have no idea if this is gen 1 or gen 2 injectors.

Rock Auto generally stocks discontinued and non OEM part numbers. They are brand new, just discontinued or made by a third party which is NON-OEM. From what I've seen online on other forums, RockAuto is a hit or miss. Some people hate them with passion, some people have had good results.

Personally, I would not attempt this purchase unless they have some good exchange warranty that covers shipping as well. 10-15% off of the price from a OEM injector is not worth the trouble in my opinion, especially when it comes to injectors.

BTW, did you know that you can easily mix gen2 and gen1 injectors IN THE SAME BANK of cylinders?

General consensus online is Airtex is an aftermarket brand with poor quality control.
I wouldn't risk it.

You uhh, buy em, put em in and code em. They run without issue. (Tested.)
BMW suggests replacing everything. Replace all of them if you'd like.

I agree with vasillalov on Rock Auto....some of their stuff is very good (and prices are excellent) but you have to do your homework on the part you're buying, especially critical components like injectors. Rolling the dice with injectors is NOT a good idea.

Yeah, you can just fine. I've been running a gen 2 injector on cyl 4 for the last 4 months or so. The other 5 injectors are all different versions of gen 1

Interestingly, RockAuto is now listing "Standard Motor Products" FJ1050 at $132 each.

The technical drawing on Airtex site shows an injector with the Bmw roundel and part number. Appear to be the same as a factory injector. It shows they were upgraded to the 079 injectors on 4-22-13. This might be a good alternative to dealer prices.
