I looked in to it
I am pretty anti-non OEM intake... For that money and the benefit of it, i would invest in other things first... The stock one is pretty good and good enough if your not on upgraded turbo... |

this is a very interesting piece... their first crack at is was a failure and BMS clearly capitalized on the poor design, but it was still an open element CAI.
I do like this design though...... http://afepower.com/shop/application...archtype=combo

I bought this intake a few weeks ago and it did not fit properly at all, I bought it from turner motorsports. They told me that AFE swore up and down that it fit. I tried fitting it on my car and I tried it on my friends car who also has a 135 with the N55 engine, and it did not fit on either car. Just thought I would let you guys know since I stumbled upon this thread.
Not saying that everyone of these sealed AFE intakes for the N55 do not fit, but the one I received had a fitment issue. |

I bought the afe cai magnum force and it threw up a code saying I was running too lean and then I tried tightening the coupler making sure there were no leaks. No matter how hard I tried to secure it, I kept getting the code thrown up. In the end I switched back to stock. Wasted my money

Sometimes they have a recalled replacement if there is a fitment problem that some dealers dont know about. |

The vendor I bought the intake from contacted AFE about the intake not fitting properly and after a week and a half they confirmed that there was a fitment issue.

Very glad I found this thread. On the youtube video they made, one gent mentioned the fitment problems. It looks as though the fit and finish is great. But I'm stuck here wondering what is it really gaining over the stock system? The tube itself does not seem any more or less restrictive and the filter surface area actually seems less than drop in filter.
I like the idea of the BMS filter (simple/cheap), but sucking in hot air, regardless of FMIC cannot be a good thing in my mind. At this point, it seems like a drop in filter and possibly that mr 5 intake is the best bet. Unfortunately,m the mr 5 intake does not seem like a great idea for colorado winters, so, long story short, drop in filter it is. |
