e90 330d 08 plate brake discs

Morning everyone I need to replace my front discs and pads as they are low and warped, When i look on realoem it shows numerous different sizes. also eurocar parts has two different sizes available 330 mm and 348 mm.

Now i have not measured mine but i do know the minimum thickness as i read it on the disc surface, Now if i use this as a guide the 348mm discs have a minimum thickness of 28.4mm which is what i have read. Can i safetly assume that is the correct size?

I would like to buy genuine as they lasted the longest and survived a few track days so could do with knowing the size ideally.

I believe it's to do with pre & post LCI, the later cars have bigger front discs, but there may be a changeover period where it's not quite so black & white

I have a November 2009 LCI and I have the 330mm disks.

The best way to tell is to check the calipers.

If you have horizontal grooves across the caliper; they're 330mm.

If the caliper is quite large with a flat face with a dimple either side and a hole in the middle; they're 348mm.

As suspected, it wasn't a clean changeover, rarely is.

Good tip on the calipers

In not sure what dictated really as I'm sure some pre-LCI's had the larger disks.

Makkans for example had these if my memory serves me correctly.

Good old BMW!

I suppose there's no harm ringing Bmw and asking the size. Realoem is not that clear. I'm sure there 348mm as the minimum is different for a 330mm disc

Garage List
I recently change the front pads and discs on my pre-LCI E91 330i and it had the larger 348mm discs.

The calipers look very different. I tried to paste a link to the 348mm. The are the same as the M3 ones. The 330mm look a fair bit smaller.

I'm pretty sure it's 348 as my minimum which is engraved on the disc is 28.4 same as post above. I will phone Bmw tomorrow and confirm for sure.

Maybe, not sure. Only reason I came to the 348 conclusion was based on Euro car parts disc minimum thickness, I 100% know mine says 28.4 on the disc I have checked it. So hopefully they are bigger!

the 330mm disks are only 24mm thick when new :P

So yes, if the minimum is 28.4 then you have the bigger disks.
