That's good to hear.... I can't find it. Can you tell me what ECU it is and what the option is called?

There are two of them and you'll need to activate both. It says that it may not work if you have iDrive but is wasn't a problem for me. |

For those of you having trouble finding this in the BC menu after coding, and I was one of them, here's how to get to it. On the stalk (left side of steering column) you have the button on the end of the stalk and a little paddle, for the lack of a better term which flips up and down. With the car running and in park, if you've coded correctly, flip the little paddle up or down. You should see some different icons appear in the dash as you flip through it. You're looking for the symbol with the key and a check mark on top of it. When you find that, press the stalk button to enter the sub menu. There you'll find a lot of things that are adjustable in your Idrive as well (triple blinker, welcome light time, etc.) Scroll through this with the paddle until you find the symbol of the headlight with a "A" on it, should be a bar with three small rectangles under it. Highlight it with stalk button, now I'm going from memory here so I think you use the paddle to change the sensitivity, one bar the least sensitive (lights stay off longer) to three bars (lights come on quicker). When you get it where you want it press the stalk button and you're done. It should be saved and you should be back to original dash.

Thanks BD and LMB. I don't know how I missed this in the bmwhat menu??? Anyway my 1/2 was active but not my 2/2 so after activating it showed up in my OBC (non i-drive). I set mine to 1 box least sensitive, hopefully this will delay the time the lights come on at dusk. I figure I have daytime running lights... why burn up the headlights any quicker than I have to!

Just in case you are like I was and wondering what the heck all of the other icons in the BC menu mean and how to adjust them ( I have iDrive so none of this was in my stalk menu until I coded for the Light Sensitivity using the BMWhat app), here is a decent YouTube video explaining them. What I was interested in started at about 4:00 into the video:

So...how much difference have you guys noticed with this adjustment? I set mine to one bar and my headlights still came on way sooner than I thought they should.
In a post on another forum, someone mentioned that changing the setting can have an immediate effect in some cars and take a day or two to "settle in" in other cars. Anyone experience the latter?

I noticed a difference immediately. I still feel like the come on sooner than expected, but it's far better than before I changed the setting.
One thing I've noticed though is that it's more reluctant to turn the headlights off if I start in darkness. As I start my car in the garage, there are still some very overcast days where the headlights will stay on, however starting the car outside on the same type of day will give me the DRLs. |

I guess it's not that big of a deal. In the pre-dark hour, I usually turn my switch to parking lights to show off my new pre-headlight setup anyway: AE's, corner LEDs (without amber corners), and yellow fogs.
