2009 335i Resale Value in 2016/2017

A clean 2009 E90 335i, ZSP, ZPP, basically Premium package, sports package, and Navi, clean title.. white

Is it right to look at 2007 335i E90s PRICES similary optioned and estimate the resale value based on the mileage I anticipate to drive since those are 5 year old cars, so most likely a little more under that for an E90 335i that is 8 years old..

BASICALLY: I am looking to buy a CPO E90 335i 2009 ~50k mileage for $25k-28k.. and plan to sell it in 2016/2017 with around 80k miles when I graduate.. will it be worth at least $15k by then? around there? I know nobody knows, the market fluctuates, things change, long term problems come out, but just a guesstimate?

Not worth getting an 07' since those are the most problematic due to it's the first production year for the 335's. But everything about on your resale value will really depend where you live, how many mileage, accident reports, color combination, if it's a AT or 6MT, exterior condition, interior condition, and mechanical condition of the car.

If everything checks out fine i'm guessing the most you'd get out of the car would be around $18,000 or less. I could be wrong but that's just an estimate.

I'm thinking the e9X's are going to hold some value mainly from the large consensus on people disliking the f30 styling... But that also is for the 2009+'s since like already mentioned 07-08 have been problematic

According to current trends with 07's, the 09 335i should be still going for 15k+ (I highly doubt its going to be less than 15k). One thing is for a fact that every car is going to depreciate in value tremendously, that is inevitable.

You are 18 years old man...What's wrong with the Camry? Hahah

Does it matter? Safe to say that it prob won't be worth less than $10k, but who knows in 4 years? Maybe $13k? maybe $16k? The difference between a dealer trade in and a private sale might be a couple thousand.

If predicting how much you'll get in 2017 for a used car within a couple thousand really impacts you I'd consider a new strategy.....

yerp.

I mean not only that, you cannot expect to have an 09 to keep it's value all too high.... To the used car market world... its just a BMW 3 series.

I'm sure you'd be safe at somewhere in the 12-16k range, depending on condition.

I sold a 2000 Honda civic with 130k mi in 2007 for $5k cash. My buddy sold his 04 Subaru WRX today for about $8500 cash... My point is, that cars that are tunable and popular with mods seem to hold their private party value for years to come!

Being only 28 and having owned 7 cars in 12 years, my biggest piece of advice is #1 ALWAYS get a vehicle that YOU love and is comfortable. #2 you always shop around and wait to find the best deal between dealership and private party to better position yourself for years down the road when you go to sell or trade-in...

For me, I'll be holding on to my 335 for at least a decade and it will turn from Daily Driver to weekend warrior.

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay. I know someone who wouldnt buy one of these cars for $5k. Some kid who has money and daddy isnt telling him how to spend it will make your car with more.

As for resale, the trade in wont take anything into account of the problems that models have if the dealership doesnt know. My dealer has no clue on these cars with the Fuel pump problems, and we have a 2007 we just took on trade for $17,200.00 Only 49k miles. If you wreck the car, do something stupid to the interior that you like, but the 41 year old woman buying your car next doesnt will affect the price greatly.

Dont sweat what your car will be worth, if your afraid of negative equity, pay off early or cash. You will not be making money on this car.
