One of the first things I did when I got the car. Was working flawlessly for awhile. Just had the problem this morning.

Tried it again today. No luck. Ejected nav disc, etc. Gonna open a thread up and I scheduled an appointment for Saturday at Erhard Bloomfield, just in case.

So annoying. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...0#post15234660

I got an appointment to service my car at 10 30AM. I assume I'll have to hang around for a while. If you're gonna be around would be glad to meet and chat.

Yeah, definitely. Not sure what's going on. Gonna disconnect the negative terminal tonight overnight when I get home from work.

When I made my appointment this morning, the earliest they had was 12PM. If you're still around, we definitely could meet and chat. Who's your SA?

I'm so partial to 359's. I love those wheels, and want a set myself.
Looking for either those or 313's for a summer set.

Yes sir. God do I love them, but I still need to order a spare front and rear in the event they ever crack (although that was predominantly occurring in cold weather... and well yeah she's been away since it hit 45 ha).

Here's a better shot:

Update on my iDrive problem:

Did researching at work all day.. Ejected the Nav disk and rebooted the CCC myself and it rebooted itself a few times. Eventually, it stayed and kicked on.

I disabled bluetooth and left the nav disk out. I heard both of these things cause the most problems.
I can live without hands free calling. Wondering if I can just replace the DVD drive on the CCC unit, if its starting to fail? I read the idea from here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=654430

Happy to have a working radio and stuff. Gonna keep my appointment for now, so we'll see. We might have to meet another time, @Ilyas

It was working fine. Got out of class tonight and it was doing the same thing again..

Drove for a few minutes and it kicked itself back on.
I have no codes or anything, but I almost feel like this is a battery issue?

Does anybody know if the battery is replaced with the battery cable recall?
If not, it may be time to change since it's coming up on 6 years on stock.

I'd rather put the $135 towards a new battery than a diagnostic right now.
Shame iDrive isn't covered under CPO, it's basically the brain for everything else.

I had the battery cable recall done and they did not do anything with the battery itself.

If you get a new battery, keep in mind that everyone and their mother insists that you need a bmw battery and they need to be programmed to avoid damage to the car. I replaced mine about a year and a half ago, I priced the indie shops and got the dealer to beat their prices. Ended up paying something like $350 for the battery installed/programmed instead of nearly $500 that they retail for.

the recall is just for the cable and nothing to do with the battery.

i've been in an OEM fix since messing up replica wheels but to each his own. i got my battery from BMW Erhard of FH...was a lot more than what I was expecting but I installed and registered the battery myself so in the end, I still saved $$$ compared to having a shop do it.

How did you register it? That is the magic voodoo part that nobody wants to explain (I didn't look very hard tho) and probably saved you at least $100 in labor.

magic voodoo!

first step is to understand how to do basic coding. second step is using "Toolset32," a software part of the coding package. as long as the battery you're getting is made to the same specs as the one in your E9x, you tell Toolset32 you're registering the battery, execute, done. the biggest PITA was the actual removal and install of the battery. if you get a battery that isn't the same spec, it gets a little more involved. you need to use the same software and specify what the changes are so that it can compensate. i want to get stuff done as quickly and easily as possible (aka lazy to some people) so that's why i got a OEM battery from Erhard FH and made sure it was the same spec when i ordered it and when it arrived.

couple years ago, my homeboy told me he was quoted 500 by erhard FH for parts and labor (including registration)...i don't know what their pricing is at now.

I suppose that coding makes sense. I have most of the stuff together to get into coding, just never got a 32 bit computer setup to run the 16 bit programs (64bit computers = first world problems). I was thinking that there was something more along the lines of putting your left foot in, pushing the buttons on the stalk, pulling your left foot out, clicking your heels together and telling the car what its all about...

Best info I found on replacing batteries awhile back -http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=910871

The free software on here, BMWLogger, will register your battery in one click. I already have a KDCAN(?) cable and have used it multiple times for clearing codes and stuff so I know it works.

Just gonna follow the advice in that thread and go ahead. Probably gonna do it soon and see since it's pretty warm now.
