The 335is might have taken the M3's crown of best all arounder . I would still take the M3 if it weren't so expensive.

OK, maybe except for the DCT, but thats an expensive option.

Its a very nice car, with a lot of added value, but seriously, its too much more $$$ than a similar 335i.

same engine computer with different lookup tables? $7000 USD!!!!
Its really 4K once you consider the sport package is standard on the "is". throw in some extra HP, standard 313 wheels, nicer exhaust and standard Mtech body package including streering wheel and that 4K disappears pretty quick.

So you drive an AWD car, would you really put all seasons on an M3?

Actually I'm looking forward to the upcoming M1.

I live in the northeast (ie we get SNOW, lots of it), and I use my M3 as a DD. But I have a complete winter tire set. So unless its alot of snow on the ground outside and no plowed roads, I'm driving the M3. No problems with the snow tires. Seriously, its not a Ferrari, you can use it as a DD.

Gas wise, yes if you hit the gas and drive like you just stole it, gas mileage sux. But if you are on the highway, taking it easy, you can get close to 20mpg.

Insurance wise, I'm older, in my late 30's, married, no points, no accidents in years, so my policy is cheap.

Basically, if its a 5k difference between a loaded 335is and a semi-loaded M3, why not just do the M3? Its a no-brainer to me. And as I said, I brought my M3 cheaper then 59k (the price in the article for the 335is).

Nice article. I like the 335is.. The $59k msrp may scare some.. Hell, a well equipped 335 xdrive coupe is pushing $56k. My car minus sport pack is $54k & change MSRP. There are alternatives if the price of admission is too much..

You have a lot of options for under 59K, I am assuming you got it CPO? Beautiful car BTW.

Good read; not really as positive as most I've read, but good nonetheless.

The was pretty disappointing.

Nice article, thanks. If I didn't need a sedan I would have probably gone for the is. I love the M3 as well, but in the end I fealt is was probably more car than I need now. However, I see a used M in my crystal ball soon, or maybe a M1 or maybe in a few years an is or .......
