Transfer case going?
I have a 2010 335xi with 52k miles.
When I had my old wheels on 18x8.5 with 235/40 all around DWS the front pair was older than the rear. So when I would put the car in reverse or drive and turn the wheel without moving the car or moving it at a slow speed I felt grinding in the steering wheel and it would happen ONLY when I would shift to drive or reverse and then turn the wheel. For winter I put on my stock 18x8 and 18x8.5 running 225/40 and 255/35 the issues seemed to go away. However I get DSC/AWD light come on randomly while driving but my battery is also dying. Sometimes with those lights I also get my cluster flicker so I chalked it up as my battery needed to be replaced. However the grinding noise is back what can this be? Sometimes it happens when I am not even moving but when I engage D or R and turn the wheel I feel a vibration. Also If I am driving and there is a curve and I move the wheel a bit like right and left a little it shudders. I also know that my control arm bushings are shot and need to be replaced. Could this cause the grinding? This noise is randomly coming and going never always there to stay. Also last question but I heard it could be wheel bearing? Is that covered under CPO and would it be valid even though my car is low on KW ? Any help? Last edited by montegokid94; 03-15-2015 at 02:39 PM.. |

I would just change the battery first since low voltage can cause those lights come up it has happened to me in the past but this time i got it and yesterday the indy mechanic said its my transfer case so i would say just go get the codes read first
