So not only did I have my VANOS system taken care of under warranty...

But they also found a leaking fuel injector which they replaced under warranty which could very well have been causing my weirdness and hesitation. No issues with warranty service and the Dinan flash either. Happy days!

Kudos to JMK BMW in Springfield!

Oh and the oil cap too, because somehow, it was seeping oil. Could it be because of my Dinan stage III?

Which oil cap? On engine or the black module on the right side fender?

Do you have high engine temps?

Hey Hutch! The one on top of the engine cover. I'm not getting any temperature warnings on the dash if that's what you're asking...

Indeed a plausible theory that I did not consider prior to your post Desert.

However, two things make me doubt that scenario:

1) The fact that I felt performance hesitation prior to dropping it off for service and now I no longer do (maybe the VANOS work resolveD the issue...who knows?)

2) The questionable benefit they would have gained in telling me such a thing, even though they could get away with it quite easily without saying anything at all and simply replacing it hush hush (other than looking like the good guy in my eyes...Ahhh, there's the benefit- HA!)

Do you think a dealer would care to be that painfully honest?

Perhaps they did, perhaps they did not- in any case it got replaced- and I have a new injector under warranty.

With any luck I can get another engine related recall, and they can break the others as well

They probably broke the injector loosening the fuel line to take the valve cover off.. N55 injectors are stupid fragile. At least they took care of it!
