Would you buy a stolen bmw 335i m sport?

Ok guys I found an E92 AW 335i M Sport, 6 Speed, iDive, and all the good stuff for the right price. The price I'm talking about is $31,999. The car has 26,808 mi. and she looks in a good shape base on pictures and CARFAX report. The only thing is the car was stolen in FL and recovered the same day in NY. No damages were reported or missing. The car failed emissions inspection, but a couple of days later the car passed emissions inspection. So, what you guys would do buy the car or don't buy it? and thanks in advance.

Well it'll definitely affect the resale value.

What year is it?

Oh and failed emissions, maybe the previous owner had mods such as DPs.

My car was a stolen vehicle that was recovered by the insurance company after the police found it, by that time they already paid the original owners out. I got it for a steal(no pun intended, haha), and have been very happy, the only damage was a cracked windshield.

Get a PPI from a good Indie repairer. And if you do buy it, change all the oils - engine, gearbox and diff soon. Perhaps even a 2nd engine oil change after a 1,000 mls. I did that on mine, it wasn't stolen, but had twice your mileage.

Made it from Florida to New York in one drive, thats a man on a mission. That tells me they had no time to strip it. We had a Shelby stolen from my dealership, we recovered it in 6 hours, it was already in 1000's of pieces by then.

I would be fine with that car if I were buying it.

I thought I was the only one who caught that too! FL to NY in a day is hightailing it!

Most likely was an insurance job. Call the insurance company first to figure out how much and if it can be insured.

That thing was balled from FL to NY in a day...good and bad i guess, all you can do is have it checked out and dyno'd to push the engine alittle to see if any leaks or other invisible stuff.

does it still have factory warranty from bmw?
since it failed inspection its possible they were modded, and if BMW knows they were modded than there is no more factory warranty on engine related issues.

other than that, i wouldnt worry about much

It's possible that it was modded, but any number of items equally as possible -- depends on the state of course, but I have seen Carfax say "failed emissions inspection" even if the reason for failure had nothing to do with actual emissions (example: tires worn out, crack in windshield, turn signal bulb out, tint too dark, etc).

A few years ago I purchased a Jetta that had been stolen from the dealership and recovered next day. Had no issues with the car, and no issues getting it insured.
