E9x swirl flaps

Going from owning an e46 for 3 years and being on various forums, I've always seen diesel owners being advised to have the swirl flaps blanked. Is it the same with the e9x's or is there nothing to worry about on the e9x's. I have the 330d if that makes any difference?

I hear there are 12 ports in the inlet manifold 6 of which have swirl flaps in which open up at around 2500-3000 to give the car that extra poke, and if they snap off they go straight into the engine -.-
