Nice write up Steve and some nice comments to make sure you stay friends with the M owners
I did the Silverstone track day last year but forgot how big these beasts are until I put it in my Garage The heat they generate is suppressing like you said the cockpit needs climate control on nearly all the time I have a integral Garage and I think the warmth from there will heat the house over winter (it was like a sauna after I've parked up the other night)
Don't know if you have parking sensors but one of my gripes is that although I agree it is a great Driving position there are quite a few blind spots
Hopefully you will give Carlos a go soon then perhaps he might admit that such a big heavy beast just might be able to do a 7.26.70 ring time
I'm upto 800 miles so will probably book it in next week for its 1200 mile service then I can join you in the 9 mpg Club
Enjoy
Chris
BTW: Have you been on the GT-R forum?

Looks great Steve, and great review, was pulled up yesterday next to a white one, and looks the dogs dangly bits.

There changing are car scheme at work, which will makeour costs much more mileage dependent, so I have a choice in 18 months time, to either downgrade to soemthing boring and practical, or just buy a junker for my commute, and go crazy for a real weekend car.

Am verging on the going crazy idea, and think the GTR coudl be top of the list, so will be interested to see how you get on with it

Very funny and sadly quite apt and true!! I wont be using LC at all so its not a big issue for me - but do agree its ridiculous to advertise something then heavily penalise anyone for using it. That said, until you drive one "properly" ie. not on a dealer test drive - you will never appreciate just how amazing these things launch in without LC - the grip/traction is phenomenal and ive blown everything away from the lights including my mates 997 Turbo, little or nothing this side of a hyper car is going to worry you either from the lights or on the road in general.

I was being honest, i still think the M3 is an awsome car, just not quick enough for my liking, but would have a 3rd one i guess!! But, kind of been there done that now and besides the white ones are getting far too common for my liking!!! As i always say "some lead, some follow!!"
Yes it is a very hot car which i cant understand why or what causes it to get or be so hot - is it the exhaust system??? Ive got reverse parking sensors on mine fitted by the dealer - take a look either side of my number plate - they work well and saved drilling into the bumper - but do agree there are blind spots. Ive already had my optimisation done - havent stopped driving it as all my friends all over the bloody country wanted to see and go for a drive in it!! Get that oil changed and then start nailing it - its gonna blow you away!!!! And yes, im on the GTR forum!!!

Yes they do Willy - and to be honest i would change them tomorrow if i could to NON RFT's as i hate RFT's as much as i hate chrome!! The ride is pretty harsh, even in comfort, on the GT-R but im convinced if we changed to NON RFT's it would transform the ride as it did with my 335i etc. But, of course, there may very well be warranty issues if you change the tyres. That said, the Dunlops are unbelievable in the dry, they are cut slicks basically, but hold the tarmac like glue - shame they cost over £2,000 to replace huh!!?

I like it a lot.

My only reservation is the size of them - I very much like small supercars like the 911 Turbo and the Vantage. But it's a small gripe.

Awesome machines.

Congrats Steve. Very pleased for you mate. Ben Linney from GTC has brought a coupe of GTR's down to our place and they do look much better in the flesh.

Now get an Eisenmann Race on there

Being a cricket chap i thought you might like that one!! He was a really nice bloke actually - said he had seen a few of my movies and new series and he took my number!!! He called me a few days ago to see which car i bought in the end. Shame he cant score any runs!!!!

Congratulations Steve on your new purchase
It really is a stunning car and deserves all the praise it gets.
You got the best colour in my opinion, I would only sell the CSL
for one of these.

Damn - that sounded LOUD!! Believe it or not i think i may be done with the super loud zorsts - cant help thinking that made the car look/sound a little tacky?? Or maybe im just getting old!!?? Ive just had a Miltek Y-pipe/secondary cat delete fitted and it sounds perfect now - not too loud and no change inside the car but a great growl on the throttle. Hope to see you chaps soon though - you never know i may change my mind about the remap!!

she is a beauty! there is a white one near me, and as you said, they are way bigger than you would expect, the bird driving floored it from the lights and it was soon a white spec on the horizon, a truly epic car in terms of performance. Glad you are happy! Enjoy!!

Steve, it's just such an amazing car, very very jealous. I loved it since early press shots arrived years ago. Was on top of my wish list but by the time they released the damn thing in the UK my finances had already been hijacked by the family!!!

If your BOSE system is the same as mine there is no ipod kit available. For some reason they seem to be completely blind to the fact someone would actually want an ipod intergrated into their systems . I've had to get a Sony tape converter (yes, the 350Z still has a tape player!!!) which works better than I'd imagined - pretty good except for the wire hanging out. That said I doubt the GTR has a tape player does it. FM tranmitter would be your only route then but avoid the dealer one - it's about 4 times the price of the same unit from a 3rd party.

Love the colour, but then I would, it's the same at my original 350Z was (unless they've tweaked it slightly). Wanted my new on in the same colour but the price of my silver one was too good to refuse.

Anyway, keep us informed with 'life with a GTR' mate (in the off-topic section of course )

Thanks matey. Yeh, i did consider storm white but as much as i think it looks great i kind of felt id done the white car thing having had 2 AW M3's back to back!! How cool that a "bird" hooned it away from the lights. Must admit my wife looked awsome driving away from the house in it yesterday!!

Roger, Roger!! Will do!! Cant be doing with FM transmitters etc - so im just burning off loads of CD's to play in the car. Have to say i think its a bit shite that a country like Japan that loves its toys and is at forefront of technology hasnt supplied its flagship car with ipod connectivity - crazy really!!!

What a gorgeous looking car! Congrats Steve.

I absolutely love the look of them. Have seen a few on the road and they look mighty - IMO

The power must be awesome too. The only similar thing (straight line pace anyway) I have driven recently was my mates 996 Turbo - X50 pack.
