Extended Warranty Question

Guys, need help.
Has anyone had a good experience with a third party warranty?
I would get the one from the BMW, but from what i understand, it is only good for 6 yrs/100k miles from the original purchase, right?
The car is 05, but only got 55k miles, so it would be pointless to pay 2-3K for a year of warranty.
Its an X5, i asked this question in the X5 forum, but got no help. And i know you guys know your stuff.
I need to decide if we need one within 2 days.
Thanks a lot.

True, factory extended is either 6/100 or 7/100 (or 6/70 or 7/70 but not worth it)....my thing is I want to get what I pay for. What good is having a 15/350 warranty for $500 if the co. is gone by the time I go to use it? Or if a dealership refuses to honor it or tells me I have to pay up front?

We all know how dealerships refuse to do work when a car is new under a full factory warranty (no SES, no service), why would they honor the ACME Extended Packet Warranty without a fight?

I rather get the BMW extended and be treated like a CPO...my .02

BMW will only sell you a powertrain warranty for out-of-warranty car, not much sense for an '05. Similar issues apply for 3rd party warranties, a lot of them won't sell you a "full coverage" once the factory warranty has expired.

Google extended warranty scam to learn why you should not ever purchase one of these.

Haha, thanks guys.
The only thing i'm worried about is the tranny, its 4.4.

And i seriously went through like 5 different 3rd party warrantied today, and they all smell like scam.
One of the companies wanted 7K for the warranty! LOL

I have had good luck with easycare warranty. Just used it as it included a tire warranty with the Totalcare warranty. Paid for drivers side front and rear tires after hitting a pothole with the crappy runflats.

Truly amazed at their prices!

No, it was some "protective" auto insurance.

Gonna take a look at easycare.
Thanks Guys.
