interesting stuff - is this a resistor voltage divider like the first gen N54 DP fix? Are the resistances adjustable? That was a bit of an issue with the last fix - each car had different tolerances (mechanical as well as software induced by BMW).....

SES Removal with Catless DP
Reviving this topic !
Anyone out there know of a Down Pipe Fix for the N55 or have done a SES removal via coding... I currently run the CAN Tool to remove the SES but, want a more permanent fix... I know the COBB tune has done this with their Stage 2 Maps, can the same technicque (if known how) be applied via coding? |

Hi there, I know it's been awhile since your post on the N55 DownPipe fix (sti959), but wanted to know how it's been working out for you and where to get the parts. Great write up once again.

I just looked it up and it seems Maryland does it the same way, an OBD scan and I'm assuming visual. In NY they allow for one "not ready" monitor and I'd imagine Maryland is the same. I couldn't find that information, if they allow for 2 "not ready" monitors then that changes things.
Edit: found a document stating that they allow 1 "not ready" for vehicles 2001 and newer http://www.mde.state.md.us/programs/...%20Website.pdf |

So I just want to reaffirm that I understand this for the N55; the COBB tune will shut off the CEL for the O2 sensor code, but not for any other fault codes? So if my car has some other issue the CEL will still come on (and I won't just be driving it blindly with an issue and no CEL to tell me that there is an issue). Am I understanding this correctly? Does JB4 also do the same thing? I haven't decided which I'm going to go with yet.
My state doesn't have emissions test, in fact our vehicle inspection is such a joke that all it is is a VIN check and Odometer reading and its ONLY required if you are registering a car purchased out of state. No yearly inspection. |
