NJ inspection...failed gas cap!

Just went to the NJ inspection facility in Lodi and to my surprise, FAIL gas cap. WTF? I laughed when I was driving home. Anyone knows how much is the OEM gas cap cost?

I have no fucking idea how they do the test! I'm wondering if I should go to another inspection facility.

I would go for it, I mean usually when your cap doesn't work an engine light comes up.

yeah that sounds liek an idiot test shop. I just use the master pass cap all the time...i dont know of any inspector that still tests gas caps..most of the equipment is more leaky than a BMW cap would be...

I'm guessing you're car is no longer under warranty? Even if it's not isn't this emissions related which is a longer warranty(8 years 80k miles or something similar).

New cars come with a 4 year sticker, most likely he's already had his car for 4 years hence the need for an inspection.

I'm pretty sure the dealer doesn't do inspections for free. At least not the ones around me.

if you fail at an nj inspection facility you're obligated to go back to the same place...... yea they take the cap off the car and check leak or leak rate of the cap with an adapter and compressor hose
