Walnut Shell Blasting

Called the dealer about hesitation while accelerating aggressively and know based on the threads it could be a cylinder misfire or carbon buildup.

Dealer will look at plugs and coils packs but said if the carbon build up isn’t bad they won't do the Walnut Shell Blasting. Cost to do the service is 640.00 dollars and will take 5 hours, is it worth it just to be cleaned out?

Cobb Stage II +FMIC aggressive is when it's the worst though still noticable in Stage II Sport.

I've heard great things about the walnut blasting but the price seems a little excessive

The price seems high. A lot of indy's will do it for around 400.

From a dealer, that prices is great. Most dealers charge $850. The indy price Pete mentions is typical. You can find deals for 3-400 on group buys. Look at your regional forum for CT.

How many miles on the car? What year? If you are in or just out of warranty call BMWNA. They might do it for free.

Car is a 2009 335xi with 46K and still under warranty though a little nervous with the numerous mods that have been done, also CPO till 100K.... Cobb, CAI, FMIC, BOV just to name a few.

Do I set back to stock, Cobb, and play dumb or fess up and see what they will do. I'd like all plugs and coils replaced and willing to play if that's not the issue. I've seen through the forum that they should be replaced every 25K though the service person told me every 100K.

My plugs were still perfect at 42K miles and unless you know you have a coil issue by a CEL you have carbon on the valves. The PCV leaks oil fumes when you back off when running the hell out of it. That is what overwhelms the current PCV and many use an oil catch can which if you go with a better quality PCV available for around 50 bucks will most likely solve the problem.
This the upgraded PCV I will be putting in after taking it down for intake valve cleaning.

You might want to consider getting this once you get the valves cleaned.
If I was you I would tell the dealership the truth that you like to run the car hard because after all it is a BMW and that you think the valves have build up from being a direct injection engine. Also a lot of Audi's and VW's are suffering worse build up than BMW with turbos.

Dealership around us charge over 800 for a walnut blast. We have done over 20+ cars and have seen some bad one. Many of the cars that run tunes have more buildup than the cars that do not. We recently had a customer with 25xxx miles on his car running Cobb and his valves looked like they were at 60xxx. We highly recommend this and for 600 that is a deal

werent you guys having some kind of deal for like $399? or something i saw it on facebook.

When I would accelerate usually at highway speeds in 5th or 6th gear the car would hesitate, and act like it was misfiring.

After I had it done it felt like 50hp was added. I only Shell V-Power in my car now. I was using shitty convenience store gas before.
