I didn't take everything out of my car to make room, but it took about 2 hours for me since it was my first mechanical job on the car.

I'm gonna reinstall mine soon. I'll either do some wrap on it or do the 3M tape idea

i think the more you change it, the harder it is to have it tighten the next time. So I'd suggest the less you change the better.

hows the performance and sound on this, all I've been reading is issues about the rubbing, but there isn't much about the performance and quality, just ordered the injen for a 128, so I'm trying to gather as much info as possible

Yeah, I have the same problem. I have put on and taken off the intake a couple times so far. Everytime I look at groove from the rubbing, it looks like it is getting worse.. I think I am going to try that 3m tape idea..

Thanks fo rthe tips..

The sound is noticeable but not annoying, and you do feel a difference at higher rpm(3k+). I am currently riding on stock air filer and I do notice the performance lost at high RPM.

Not sure if it's possible, but at lower RPM(under 3k) it feels faster to have stock than injen.

thanks for the input, there is a dyno of a 128i with an injen, and it does appear to be a minimal horsepower loss before 3000rpm, but once you surpass that, supposedly the gains are 10 ft-lb of torque and 10 hp which makes up for the small amount of power loss before 3g.
