not its not.....heat it up a little (hairdryer) & use dental floss to dismantle the tape behind it, starting from the corners of the letters/numbers. after wards clean up any residue with "goo gone" or "goo off"

I just did my 06 330i two weeks ago. Looks fine to me. I was detailing the entire car though so I buffed and polished the area afterwards. Goo Gone is essential!

Dear god, just leave the badge on...when you remove the badge you will have spectacular paint under the numbers. The rest of the surrounding paint will not look up to par. So have a PROFESSIONAL detailer POLISH and protect the surrounding area or the entire car if your paint work is swirled and scratched up.

my car had 38k miles on it when it did it (california), it has strong fading from the looks of it. it has been a few months and the 335i outlines can still be seen. although it is slowly fading...

I debadged a 2008 Alpine White car for someone not that long ago and there wasn't even a hint of it being noticeable. Badge came off super cleanly too - I only claybarred the area as a formality afterward, wasn't really necessary.

Everyone has their own reason. Most (not all) 328 owners debadge in order to fool others into thinking their car is a model up (335 or M3) Most 335 and M3 owners debadge because it gives a more "even" look. It's cleaner in some people's opinion. There are badges on one side of the trunk, but not the other, so you remove the badges and the trunk is "even" with just a roundel in the middle. This would be my reason if I were to debadge, but I'm undecided about actually debadging yet. I might try to plasti-dip my badges first to see how that looks. If I don't like it I can either remove the plasti-dip, or remove the badges.

I'd love to see your source on that. While I'm sure it's possible some people do it for that reason, I strongly doubt that it's "most." It doesn't fool anyone - anyone who knows the different models and would care also knows how to tell the difference without the badge, and anyone who can't tell the difference doesn't give a damn.

Those people also don't know what the difference between a 328i and 335i is anyway, and if they did they wouldn't care. Doesn't matter whether the badges are there or not.
