Anyone wear Contact lens and have allergies?

I really hope its the allergy that is killing my eyes right now.

Starting spring(right around allergy season) of this year, my eyes are hurting like there is no tomorrow.
Even when I take it out, it literally feels like my eyes are about to explode. it hurts that bad.

It usually isn't that bad, but I guess once I start rubbing my eyes(usually this didn't cause ANY pain) or something gets in, I HAVE to take them off. It'll take hours to recover before I can put it on again.

Anyone going through this? Soft or hard? I use hard contacts.

do your eyes itch? are you having any discharge? if you have severe ocular allergies then you should see your optometrist and get a rx for some allergy meds. could also be related to your contacts which can make an allergic reaction even worse. also you would probably want to rule out an infection especially since you are a contact lens wearer.

Try using Zaditor, my family physician recommended it to me.. I also have allergies, I feel your pain man.. Eye allergies are the worst....... Once you start rubbing, it never ends! But yeah, you should try this.. always take your contacts out when putting on allergy eye drops, and should keep them off for at least 5 mins.

btw, I have soft contacts because of astigmatism.

I have allergies but no pain. It was much more irritating when I wore gas perms to the point I just stopped for weeks at a time. Soft lenses are much easier.

Never heard of it, but may look into it. I've always heard the hard contact lenses were better for astigmatism.

My allergies suck and my contact lenses have started getting worse. I'm going to try a new brand when I have my eye exam next month. My allergies are the worst inside of work. The building is dusty and probably moldy as hell. It's miserable.

Things have gotten so bad that my contacts cause my vision to blur late at night. Not even a quick cleaning or drops help. But once they soak over night, all is well.

My vision is worse again. I already can't read the "Big E", now it's gonna be worse. I look forward to what my doctor recommends.

My alergies are pretty bad. But not that bad. I have soft lenses. I use visene drops 2 times a week before putting in my contacts. Otherwise its just Renu drops before they go in. I would have that double checked. You could wear glasses as an alternative. Sometimes its good to give my eyes a rest at night/during alergy season. Good luck

Use the Brand I stated, "Zaditor" it works better than Viseine, and my Doc said to not use Viseine because it was bad.

Visine is not recommend. Zaditor is a good allergy med that use to be prescription only but is now otc. Pataday is the drug of choice for ocular allergies because it is the most effective and is only necessary to use once a day as opposed to all the others which have to be used at least twice a day to be effective. Go see your doctor to get checked out. Gas perms have made some advances as of late including plasma coating which improves the comfort and wetablity of the lenses.

I have soft contacts and I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL. Taking a test with this pain excruciating. Try Thera tears..you can use them with your contacts in. Tell me how it works out for you!

I have really bad (Jew) allergies and contacts. I wear some of the softest available which can also be left in for 2 weeks, they irritate me minimally, much less then the hard ones, and typically not at all. Only time I have problems is when I leave them in for like 2 1/2 months because of forgetting, then I get irritated. They are Acuvue's from Johnson and Johnson.

Ive also had your symptoms before and typically it's just an acute eye irritation, which means no contacts for a few months plus a topical antibiotic and steroid.

Wearing contact lenses really sucks. Glasses are so much better because they're cheaper, safer, and makes you look smarter.

Take them off for a while until your allergies go away. You do not want to cause damage to the cornea by rubbing your eyes repeatedly.

yeah. i've never really had allergies until i went to college where i'm subject to a whole lot of pollen, dust, etc. i try not to rub my eyes but sometimes you can't really do anything about it, and i get red eye from rubbing it too much. i use soft lenses... they're okay. i'm sure if i was indoors more it wouldn't be bad.
