I have the itch to buy an E60 M5
I have been searching for a 08-10 M5 with all the options that I want and im about to give up.
Its been two weeks and im getting really tired of looking. Maybe its I sign I should keep my 335i Does anyone here have experience with the M5, they are so sexy and ive wanted one for ever but the MPG scares me and repairs worry me Any input would be great. I found one M5 that im considering its in socal and im in Seattle. I was thinking about going down to check it out next week. Driving my prius down to buy an M5 oh the irony

I don't think the MPG should scare you off, but from what I can tell those E60 M5s are ticking time bombs in terms of maintenance...The E60 was a pretty soft car to begin with in terms of reliability, then you add in a high strung V10 and fidgety trans....I dunno man. I adore the car too, I don't want to sound like i'm just ripping on it.

A good friend of mine had an E60 M5. He took it on a few car rallies, including gumball in 09. The car was a thirsty one but it was a great car. He got it up to 77k before selling it. The only issue he had with it was a blown shock and a few minor things that you would expect from any car.

What part of SoCal? There's places around here where you never want to buy a car from.

I went through this phase but decided against it because of repair cost alone.
Even a simple brake job if I did it myself would cost nearly 2K!!

Ah I see well I was just asking incase if it's from Glendale..forget it. Lol they're known for scamming there. Anywhere in the San Fernando Valley i.e Glendale, Burbank, North Hollywood, etc. When I was looking for my car I made sure to stay away from there...I was a bit racist picking out my car not going to lie even to my own people (Persians) I wouldn't buy a car from a Persian, Armenian, Russian, or any type of middle eastern because they tend to hide things and SoCal is FULL of them. If he seems legit to you more power to you and good luck the E60 M5 is a GREAT car. My friends neighbor has a E39 and a E60 M5 they're sooo sick.

my neighbor has one that he never drives, it's an '09 with 15k miles on it. i mean he drives it around town a few times a week but in no way a DD. One day I was with him as he merged onto a long straight bypass and holy hell it was scary fast. my dad had a C6 S6 (10 cyl) as well and i was impressed.
Based on the comments of these members and from everything else i've heard I'd pass as well if it were to be a car you wanted to rely on
