Maybe you can sort yours with the manual adjusters, the AHL xenon still have the ant the trusty BMW screwdriver in that comes with the car will do the trick.

Does it move left and right when you steer?
Awesome!

Yeah I noticed the manual adjusters, but wasn't sure if it was a good idea to adjust them that far to make it correct; it's pretty far off.

They do move slightly when I turn, but this is my first adaptive headlight car so I'm not sure how much they should be moving. Now that I think about it I actually did replace both headlights..

Best to start with coding them first then to at least make sure that both modules know which they are (left/right).

I am not sure about those 'short circuit' fault 'coz that fault was not present in my LMA, but I successfully swapped/coded my left SMC module on E60LCI. Just did SG_CODIEREN on (2)LSMC module. Now warning message is gone and I can see how both xenons move up and down when I start them. Swapping the used smc module is much easier than I imagined. But I have heard after swapping calibration is necessary about which I have no idea. But again there are no faults in LMA module and everything seems to work fine.

He short circuit fault only appears in FRM/LMA if the faulty SMC is present for a prolonged amount of time, not sure exactly how long but if you swapped out the bad module in a week or two I imagine it wouldn't go into short circuit protection.

Still waiting for my new module to turn up, hopefully tomorrow.

So I have a complete set of used dynamic xenon to go into my dynamic xenon equipped car. Replacing entire assemblies together as one.

Sounds like I may be good to go without coding?

I doubt the module can be recoded. Most likely, if you pull faults from the frm, you will have a comm fault with the SMCII module. You can buy used modules off eBay for around $100 and swap it in. It may need recording, depending on what country it came from and which side of the vehicle it came off of.

Not sure about the other guy, but I just replaced my passenger side AHL controller (RSMC) and programmed it basically the same was as how it was explained in the video someone posted above and it worked. Basically read FRM, then SG_CODIEREN the RSMC. Didn't need to do any VIN programming to get it to work, but my module was new from BMW. Good luck.

Same problem replaced and coded driver side SMC module with a used one from ebay on my 07 e92 335i but it moves in the opposite direction (turns left when turning right). Passenger side works perfect, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you modified the production date in your VO? What part of KY are you from?

Hi folks,

Long story short, my passenger side headlight unit has an oily water substance in it (silica gel bag that was collecting condensation dripped everywhere). This managed to cover the TMS module, which I've removed and dried out.

Having refitted it, I now randomly get side/daytime light fault messages when starting the car. Turn off the engine and re-start and it'll clear. I don't know if the module is playing up or whether there is some residual oily water inside the headlamp unit that is yet to dry out (the oily stuff just doesn't evaporate which is a nuisance).

I'm reluctant to replace the module with a second hand one, unless I'm absolutely positive it's at fault, as the messages in this thread indicate recoding and recalibrating the adaptive aim is a black art.

Should I use tool32 to completely reset the FRM? My model has FRM3 so I assume I would use FS_LOESCHEN but how would I find all the relevant error codes that need to be reset? Is there any point in doing this?

I was also considering swapping the left and right modules to see if the problem transfers. Would I need to recode anything to test this theory? Also don't want to risk frying the good driver side module if something is shorting out in the passenger headlight assembly.

Not sure of best approach - looking for any advice please.

If you got water in them you need to replace. Coding won't do anything. I'm pretty sure you'll need to code if you swap them left and right

Dear all, I am quite new to this forum but I need your help.

I have '10 X5 E70, and due to broken bixenon adaptive headlights (crash),
I installed new bixenon headlights but w/o adaptive functions.

Now I have an error coming every time I turn ignition.

Is there any step by step, how I can turn off or decode this option in my car?
I do not need them but would like to get rid of annoying messages every time.

Appreciated!

I think if you want to delete the Adaptive headlight, then remove the VO $524 from the list. In the 2 "main" ECU's. Something like the CAS and LMA but X5 will be different

Or maybe it can be easier to code out the warning lights, dont know if that is an option.

Hi all,

If I'm purchasing a completely new headlight (with adaptive module, both sides) do I need to code after installation?
