HI all,

After driving home from work and parking on the flat driveway and changing, I hopped back into my car and threw it in reverse, slowly I am backing up and a second later the front right of my car raises and then literally drops (steering wheel turns too) and scrapes the front end and wheel well, I can't even drive it because it's on the ground.

2008 335 Coupe dropped on HR Sports on stock struts with 54k mileage. Now I know my shocks are pretty much done because I am bouncing all around, I was looking at coilovers when this just happened.

Would a blown shock do this? I hit a pot hole on the way home from work but the car was driving fine. The car is under CPO warranty for another year, but could the steering be bent? Would the stealership cover it if I had it towed??

I can't drive the car, if anyone is local with a jack and tools to pull off the wheel and knows suspension I will take care of you, I am in Pacific Beach, CA (San Diego)

Any advice would help too in regards to a dealership covering suspension/steering related issues like this under CPO warranty with dropped springs, thank you in advance....

Get pics up. Did the bolts on the wheel fail, or were they loose? Maybe the knuckle where the shock slides in broke? And there's no way cpo would cover any modified suspension.

Mod suspension will not be covered, you will be on your own.

The bolts on the wheel looked ok, I drove the car another 2 miles after I hit the pot hole and it wasnt that bad of a pot hole. I will try to get a jack under the car tomorrow and pull off the wheel. Everything looks normal though which is why this is super weird to me.

would one blown strut do this? I thought the spring supported much of the weight?

broken lower control arm, damn thing snapped like a twig!! Glad I know what it is at least, but is it possible the top arm is twisted too? Anyone seen this before? I didnt even feel it...it must of just happened when I turned in to park..

How bad...how much cash do you think will be coming out ye' old wallet??

lower control arms should not be that expensive to replace...can you do it yourself? if not, find a good indy....then get it aligned...you will have to check the other suspension components for stress and or cracks......

I had this exact same scenario happen in my last car! The car literally wouldn't move and I had to have it towed to and Indy shop. I paid 300 cash to have it fixed. You may have to pay more due to the badge on the car, but hopefully you find a shop that can fix it for 3-400 bucks.

Yes stock control arm, they really are f'in wishbones!

So disappointed, I have heard before that Bimmers have fragile suspension, but jeez, for that to snap like a twig you would've thought I jumped the car off the curb.

I dont even know how I can tow it, when it rolls up the life it's going to twist the upper arm and anything else....so disappointed

Wow, that's nuts! Does that control arm have a sticker that says "Made in China"? Time to upgrade those control arms man. Good luck.
