Very good news!

Although I would love to see how they sand that inner liner down - there is no room for anything to fit!

From what they told me they remove it and do it. And the local BMW dealer has authorized them to do so. Guess I'll find out on Saturday.

Tint Protector sells an anti scratch kit for the 3 series. It will also work with the 1 series. Same thing!

These cars are notorious for this. Especially E90. My E90 has major scratches on both front windows. My e92 is fine

I have Lumar tints on my E90 and no problem whatsoever on them. I roll my windows up and down a couple of times a day and have no scratches at all.

I have the same problem. Huper Optik installed by Song's Tint Masters. I hate it. Feels like a total waste of money.

I have the same problem here. I'm not sure what kind of tint brand that they were using. I have it redone twice already and the car is not even 6 months yet.

Wow, thanks for sharing. Glad this thread was started because I was about to dump $420 on ceramic tint this week. I'll have to mention your find to the installer. THANKS YOU GUYS.

So Solar Gard or Tint Protector? I'm about to get my tint re-done back at the dealer.
Any feedback? Thanks.

Tint Protector sells the Moleskin to prevent your tint from scratching AFTER you put on the tint.

I would use 3M tint and THEN put the Tint Protector Moleskin Kit on.

it's cheep insurance. If you don't put the kit on your tint WILL start to streak and scratch. Here is a picture of what it will look like if you don't install the Tint Protector BMW kit.

cpe90,

Not sure what you ended up doing but...

No window tint no matter how well it's made will prevent window tint scratches and streaks if you don't have the Moleskin on the inner weather strip.

I would get the Tint Protector 3 series kit AND the best tint you can afford.

Had the same problem with my E90. I had a lifetime warranty on my tints so the tint shop retinted my windows and installed window felt free of charge. I have not had a single line appear on my tints.

Can they? Shit they better. I don't know how customer friendly your tint shop is but they should not charge you for any labor costs with installing the felt, although that is all up to the shop. The felt itself is a 50/50 issue, some places might charge you for it and some not. The re-tint is covered by warranty so there should be 0 cost there.

Remember..... MAKE SURE they install the felt or else you will be back in their shop about 6 months after you get the tints fixed because you will need to have them redone, again.

what kind of felt? some shops carry their own glue and felt, while others buy product such as that moleskin stuff.
