Yeah, don't even joke about that. A ship full of BMW's sank in 2005 after a collision with another ship.

The ship was the Tricolor. There were 2800+ cars on board, including BMW's, Volvos, etc.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...51C1A9649C8B63

They did end up pulling her up after cutting her into 9 sections. All of the cars had to be extracted from each section and accounted for, but were obviously destroyed.

That is correct, however the ship sank in 2002, but was only recently cleared out from the channel.

Any updates on our vessel, somewhere in the Atlantic I assume? Can we get a GPS fix any way?

Hello,
I didn't think that it was possible to find the AIDA using GPS unless you had an AISLive account (which I don't have and I wasn't about to get) but I did some research and came up with the following:
1) I think that the callsign of the AIDA is SBLI based on the following:
- http://www.wallenius.se/doc_upload/6...1149771668.pdf
2) Using this callsign I was able to track the ship: http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SBLI
3) So according to Google Maps we're smack in the middle of the Atlantic (zoom out):
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=N%2040%C2%B000'%2C%20W%20037%C2%B030' &btnG=Google+Search&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl
- SR

P.S. The Otello has a different callsign SBLW - http://www.walleniusmarine.com/doc_u...ical_facts.pdf

Thanks for the info SR! I couldn't find the AIDA on sailwx because when you search by name, it gives the callsign SCFI which (thanks to you) I now know is incorrect!

Now I can also continue to obsess over where the boat is!!

Looks like she just adjusted her course to the North heading towards Halifax.

This is sad.

I need another hobby!

Hello,
Agreed. Is there any further update on time of arrival, or current position? Or was that to address any off-topic posts? Just a little confused as to why that was needed.

Based on the progress she's been making, the 26th will probably be the earliest date for arrival in Halifax. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a slip to the 27th. Position is reported every 6 hours and the latest was just posted:

Hello,
AIDA seems to be slowing down also. Her speed is down to about 11.3kts from almost 18kts.

Delayed again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now it shows docking in Halifax on the 27th!!!
This is absolutely ridiculous!!
Honestly i am really pissed right now.
If I was on the Atlantic Concert like i should have been since my car was sitting at the port of exit for 10 days before being loaded on a vessel, then my car probably would have arrived in Montreal already.
The Atlantic Concert was only delayed by a day and left on the 7th.
The Aida is suppose to be the latest and greatest in their fleet and look at this Bs!!!
