TPMS Compatibility

Today I put winter tires on my 2011 328 e90. I bought the tires in 2007 and previously used them on 2007 e92 335. I expected to have the tire pressure light to be on - I read on the forum that 2007 TMPS are different from the 2011 ones. The light is not on and no warnings displayed. How can i tell if the system is working besides deflating one of the tires? Thank you.

Your sensors will definitely throw a code after 30 min of driving if you use pre-LCI on LCI.

Did you swap the tires only or did you swap the sensors or did you swap the wheels already mounted with snow tires/tpms?

If you swapped tires only to your current wheels with LCI tpms, you are all set.

I put wheels/tires with with tpms which I bought back in 2007. I drove around 20 miles on them. No light so far.

I took my Tire Rack snow package from my '07 E90 to my '09 E90 without a problem. When I took them to my '13 F30, the sensors are not recognized, so I have the contant warning. Tires work fine. Sensors not so fine. So be it.

Eventually on the 3 rd day of driving the "TPMS Inactive" warning lit up.

07 to 09 are pre-lci, so makes sense the tpms are compatible.

Not familiar with the F30's, but did they go away from tire mounted sensors? Newer Audi's did and it makes much more sense.

I wasn't sure but Tire Rack still runs the winter tire specials for the F30's and it includes TPMS for an adder. Sounds like BMW kept them.

F30's use actual TPMS sensors for US model cars. For US model cars, BMW used TPMS sensors on all 2008 and newer vehicles (and some 2007 models).
