Is ZPC harmful?
Does ZPC remove swirl marks by cutting the clear coat slightly??
If it does anything like that on my clear coat, I would not use it. Does anyone know how it works? Last edited by lyjw88; 10-17-2007 at 10:11 PM.. |

I use it and love it!! but I"m not sure if it "cuts" into the clear coat since its only a mild abrasive I guess if you use a organ cutting pad then yes it could cut into the clear coat, but I use a white LC pad, zaino suggest not to use it as a regular daily thing since it is an abrasive product, but believe me you won't be disappointed!!

That is what polish do. ZPC is comparatively very mild. I used it recently on a buffer and its amazing.
I happen to like the way swirls look on white cars. |

Any abrasive polish/compound will remove paint. Clear coat is just clear paint. The only way to *remove* swirls is to level paint, which means removing some to level it out. Unless you want to fill swirls (meaning they will come back), then compounding is the only way to correct them, and that means removing paint.
For what it's worth, if you compound carefully you will be able to do it many, many, many, many times, like 100+. The paint on a modern car, treated carefully, will outlast the rest of the car. |
