Question e90 front light upgrade options

I've been trying to find some option for upgrading the front lights for my e90. My car comes with the normal non xenon non halo lights which whilst they look ok aren't a patch on the halo/xenon types.

To buy new from BMW is quite expensive I hear but are there any aftermarket options that a) look good, b) are well made and c) don't cost a friggin fortune?!

I've just stumbled upon THIS for Depo light units but they are still so expensive!

Obviously eBay and the forums are worth keeping an eye on too but all the ones I've seen so far in the past few weeks always seem to have broken clips (is it so diffucult to remove the lights without breaking the clips ffs?!) also the are all halo lights but without Xenons.

Any bright ideas anyone?

Sadly, that's your choices - either OE parts from a broken car, or the Depo equivalents. Both are expensive options.

Hi mate, I would recommend these mtec bulbs:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MTEC-H3-12...item56393a24e9

These are the best halogen option you have. I haven't had any problems with these but if you are worried about running 100w bulbs, you can get 55w versions (wouldnt recommend them though, they look good but have a very weak output).

Hi

For LCI e90 and e91 cars with halogen we have the LED upgrade bulbs. Tried and test by e90 post users...

Hahahahahahaha. Hahaha. Ha. Ha.

Those bulbs are so good they defy the principle of the conservation of energy and actually MAKE power! They draw 100W but output 150W

I'm going to cancel my order for solar panels and just have an array of these instead - guaranteed 50% return on your power bill!

When I had my e46 I upgraded the zenon headlights by buying them from breakers....cost around £250 for a set.

I found them through www.partsgateway.co.uk

Just thought I should mention, don't be fooled by the advert photography, lens focusing can look quite different to the naked eye.

I've seen many of these super-bright halos on the road, and some are so bright that the headlight cluster (even in the day) just looks like a shiny blue mess, rather than 4 distinct corona rings - bare this in mind if you like the crisp-clean-angel-eyes look

I do think the standard white rings on the newer halogen models is a bit weak, but don't over do it, or you'll get the opposite effect

Could be a reference to the lumen output, similar to those home energy saver bulbs, only use a few watts but output the same lighting as higher wattage bulbs ... just maybe

I would recommend the "tried and tested" route (IE what I did).

Get some LCI halogen lights, these have angel eye markers but they are the dim yellow ones

Upgrade the marker rings

Get the best ultra white halogen bulb you can.

end result:

(I also started with just plain boring halogen.. )

I used 55W on my other car and I am not happy with the tint / shade they give.
you will get yellow light with slight purplish tint.

I ended up having xenon upgrade on my car.

you better ask somebody to update the picture with these bulb v/s standard bulbs and then decide.

I am only telling what I learnt from experience.

Can LCI halogen lights go on pre-facelift models?

How much did it cost you to upgrade to these lights?

Looks smashing.

Has anybody tried these lights in UK?

E bay item number: 120837686681

They look brilliant especially with DRLS but they come from Taiwan.
Cant really speak about their quality.

I was tempted but then thought not to waste money on these.
