Tire shine and issues
Ok, so Ive been trying all these different type of tire shines to no avail. My problem is not finding the ones that last the longest or have the deepest gloss. Its the fact that no matter which one I try, it always leaves a mess on my fenders from being kicked off the tires when I start driving.
Whether its the spray or gel, or even leaving the car to sit for 24 hours before I drive it, it just keeps happening. What do you guys recommend or find works best for you?

I've tried everything and have almost always had the exact same issue. It's very irritating because I'm such a detailing fanatic. you spend hours on the paint, and no matter how long (i've let dressing dry for two days before) it still flings on your car and wheels when you drive. It's very annoying, the car looks great until you drive it. I've found the only type of product that doesn't do it (also doesn't last or shine very well) is just a normal all purpose protectant, like Armor All or something similar. I usually just use armor all since it won't fling, although the shine lasts a couple days max, but I'd rather apply it again then have to wash the car over because the tire dressing flings all over.
I'm sure somebody will come in and say XX product doesn't fling, but if it leaves a high gloss it is going to fling. I've literally tried EVERYTHING! Best of luck. Btw, Armor All really isn't the best product, and I wouldn't use it on anything but my tires, but it doesn't fling and that's all I'm concerned with at this point. |

Look into water based tire dressings if you are having problems with sling. They will get absorbed into your rubber and actually nourish the tires, keeping them soft and flexible rather than drying them out. Many tire dressings are silicone based, which sit on the surface of your tire which often results in slinging on to your paint as you drive. They also have the tendency to dry out or brown your tires, which can also hurt the life of your tire.
Water based dressings do not last as long and do not give off the wettest looking shine, but they certainly are safer and better for your tires (and paint). Our best selling water based dressing is Poorboy's World Bold 'n Bright. This gives off a nice medium gloss and is easy to apply. Another option is to use 303 Aerospace Protectant on your tires. It is also water based, and also provides UV protection. The 303 gives more of a matte / new tire look though with minimal gloss. The key to durability and maximum effectiveness from a water based dressing is to make sure your tire is properly prepped. I turn to Poorboy's Biodegradable APC to prep my tires before applying a dressing. If you have any other questions on tire care, let me know. George |

I only use Meguiars Endurance which I usually buy from their website because it's a little hard to find. It comes in high gloss and regular and there is absolutely NO SPIN OFF. And I mean none at all. It lasts a long time too and when it does wear off, your tires are still black.

I use Tire Shine with no problems. Try this don't spray the product directly to the tire instead spray into a rag or cloth then apply to the tire. you might need to apply twice but results are great.

i use the meguiars endurance gel as well...its purple and stored in a clear bottle. That stuff is really amazing, it flings a little bit but it lasts very long and is extremely shiny.

Thats the last stuff Ive been using. It flings like a bitch. I have all these black specs on the side of my car and my fender linings are black. I put on 2 coats with an applicator 12 hours apart and didnt drive the car for another 12 hours. Rediculous.

agree, i've used that as well with poor results, I also always spray it onto an applicator and it doesn't make a difference. I agree that any silicone based products are going to fling because they aren't going to be absorbed into the rubber like a water based type. I think some people aren't as anal as other with their detailing, so a little fling on the side really isn't noticed like some do. |

Don't Use Mop and Glo!
I tried mop and glo once. ONCE! I looked sharp until I drove the car. My tires looked like they had leprosy.

The only downside of the water based dressings is they do not last as long, so after a few washes, they need to be reapplied for that bold wet look. George |

As George mentioned the #1 reason dressings sling is that they are put on a dirty tire. Tires sometimes look clean, and aren't. Spray them with some all purpose cleaner then give them a good scrub with a brush, then let them dry completely before applying any dressing.
I use the same stuff George mentioned, poorboys bold 'n bright; never had sling as a problem and it's reasonably glossy; and you can apply many coats for more gloss. You can see thousands of pics of it in use on my site. |

I've found that the issue with tire dressing "sling" is often related to the amount being used. As someone in this thread mentioned, it is impossible to get a high gloss on the tires without sling.
I only apply tire dressing after the tires have been throroughly cleaned and dried. Then I apply only a small amount of tire dressing to my tires (Meguires Endurance). Similar to my waxing technique, less is more. The sidewalls aren't shiny, but they no longer appear dull. I get no "sling" and the finish lasts until my next wash.

After I put it on with the applicator I kind of "buff" it around the tires using about the same pressure that you would use if you were shining your shoes so there's no glop or residue on them. One coat does it for mine and puts a nice shine on them. Even if I "clean and go", I don't have a problem with spotting with Endurance.

Hyperm3, it's an aerospace protectant. I am sure you searched already and you'll see that like everything else around here, everybody has a different opinion. 303's worth a try though since you are having trouble finding something you like. Good luck

I have tried them all. Dupont teflon tire shine is the only one I use now.
It is dry to the touch, does not fling and it is water resistant. Also it doesn't attract dirt or turn the tire brown. |

Poorboys Bold N Bright is the best
Never had a sling issue with it - my tires look great for weeks, it is easy to apply and nourishes the tire.
Aero 303 is great too - but I use that on the inside mostly. Don't forget the Poorboy's wheel sealant as well on the rims, I just wipe of my rims each night and they look like new. |
