Just got my first Georgia Ad Valorem tag bill as a BMW owner

Georgia sure knows how to stick it to you. $500+ dollars for my tag fee for my 2008 e93 convertible. Happy Birthday to me in Feb. I have to shell out $700+ dollars in tag bills between 2 cars. Anybody else needs to vent about this?

I can't wait to get mine in March for my '11 E92. I'm guessing it's going to be at least $700.

Exactly... IT SUCKS! I'm paying over $1200 between December and January for both my wife's 2010 X5 and my 2010 335i. At least you guys get a little break from the holidays. Makes me second guess wanting that more expensive car.

Mine was just a couple of months ago, I paid a little over $900 for just my car. I have a truck and a motorcycle. So I feel you bro.

glad i'm military living in a state i don't claim residence to. Knocked my $500 tax bill down to $25.

Georgia is a supreme ripoff. Ad Valorem is based on the car's "value" instead of weight like Fla. or emissions like the UK. Lousy air quality often in the summer and no veh. inspections leading to defective equipment. That's why our roads suck so bad, too. Poor planning on the states part, one must be a 24 karat moron to be elected to the legislature around here...

I'm moving to Atlanta in a couple of weeks from Denton (just north of Dallas for those that don't know). That $69.50 is going to look like the "good ol' days" to me too apparently. I am seriously trying to figure out a way to keep my registration in TX for at least another year or two. GA is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to tax! It would be worth it just to drive back and get it inspected than to pay this astronomical ad valorem bs. *rant*

Don't feel bad e90Elvis. I just moved here at the beginning of February from Dallas (however, I did go to school in Denton... Go Eagles!) and already contemplating moving back. I never thought I would say it, but I think I miss TX. I'm sure I won't miss the hellish summers though. Last summer was brutal!!!

Anyhoo, have a safe trip.
