What about the JB4? Can I use it as a logging device on a stock map?

Reason I'm asking is because the Autologic - as good as it is for a shop - it doesn't look at shit for N54 engine parameters. No manifold pressure, no wastgate DC, nothing important. I'm looking for something to datalog stock N54s when troubles arise.

I guess a BT will, though...

James -

Have no idea about its logging capabilities with a stock map, but you might also want to inquire about Cobb since it installs so simply through the OBDII port.

It would be a nice feature if the Procede could datalog when on the stock map. I know there have been a couple times where I would've liked to have been able to do that.

$735 for the unlimited BT tool. Oh well, cost of doing business I suppose.

I might give Terry a call and get a JB4 on the way. Good to have to demonstrate upgrades for x35 customers! I've sold a couple of Procedes that way, too.

If you want to CAN log with the stock tune, all you have to do is set it up so that you trigger a Procede fault. The meth overflow one is easy to trigger purposely by simply running with the wrong meth mode setting. At which point you will be able to log everything yet still run in stock mode.

Excellent. So I would set Methanol Mode to 1 (PWM) and input some value like 10 for the Injection Mode? Then the unit would detect the underflow and default to Map 0, not Map 1? Is this applicable for a car without any of the PWM parts installed? I have a 335Xi with an underboost problem, and I can't find any physical reason for it, and I wanted to take my Procede out and swap it into this car.

Sounds like a lot of work, and risk with a customers car. Get a BT tool and it will save you lots of time under the hood, it will pay for itself in time saved.

Overflow may be easier. Set injection mode, apply, then set methanol mode to 1, then apply again. Youll confuse the unit and will get 6 SES blinks on the dash to indicate the procede fault code 6. This is assuming I understand this correctly.
