Look at it this way: I'm going to ask the 1,000 HP M3 to run. I figure if I can get him to agree on something like a 50mph roll on starting in 3rd gear, I would get a large initial advantage since I'm at 18psi and he's gonna lag big time. Of course at some point he would rocket on by but that would be so fun to see how long I could hold him off and also fun to see him pass me like I'm standing still in the triple digits.

or he can shift down to second and stay in boost for the rest of his gears and rape us.

Sure but that's not really the point of these roll ons because we try to make it as even as we can.

We usually just try to run cars with similar HP, but sometimes it's fun to mix it up a little. So if I am going to run a car with 100 more HP, I might ask to start at a speed/gear where I may have a temporary advantage. People will usually be cool with this and surprisingly it usually makes the race interesting.

Is there a dead line for registration? I still can make up my mind if I want to drive up there from Vegas or not.

Yes. But when we fill the number of spots we are comfortable with (somewhere in the vicinity of 75) we will close registration.

I'd have thought that it would cost less than $225 for an entry fee? Or is that the norm?

Just curious, how does the math work? 75 cars X $225, is almost $17,000 in revenues. How much does it cost to rent the strip, and what's the value of the prizes, leaving profit / other costs to cover if not everyone is a volunteer, etc.

Insurance cost is crazy expensive from what I understand. These guys aren't making much (if any) money on this.

Couple of questions, if you haven't done a dyno, do you just conservatively guess the Crank HP? Also, do you just pick a # for your car? Only asking because they are required fields.

Correct, its just a crank estimate. And a car number can be whatever you want, just a way to identify you

Do it! Didn't you recently post something about an event at Willow? This place is not much further.

Sounds good!

Edit: Lawrence (Alpine White E46 M3) and I (Marcus - Laguna Seca Blue E46 M3) had to guess at our horsepower at the crank. Wish they would have specified wheel, not crank when signing up... I make between 800-850 to the wheels so I guessed a super conservative 900 to the crank, but if I did what most do for E46 M3s and calculated about 15% drive loss I guess i'd be about 950-1000hp at the crank?

Lawrence and I both have the same turbo,.. we run different fuels, fuel systems, i have a bored under/sleved block, his is bored over I believe, and different EMS's.. He runs AEM w/110L + Meth, I run just E85. However I spoke with Lawrence on the phone and it looks like he may only be on pump and meth down there, so making like 700 or so to the rear wheels. Vic (Tazam3) might be showing up, and if he does.. that would be the guy you'd want to pick a race with.. his E46 M3 has something being done to it that he won't share.. but rumor has it it could be putting down 1400rwhp.

Realistically though our E46 m3's are only good to about 700-750rwhp for traction, so he'd better bring some slicks or a widebody
