Where did you get the signal from the front speakers?

Sorry this is confusing.

You're not listening.

When we do single 10" subs in the trunk, it sounds fine. But when we do them, the box isn't so big it can't fit in the picture.

I think you need to see a pro, rather than buying new amps, deciding that BMWs are the problem, or something silly like that.

i would go with the opinions that the installer might not have tapped the right wires, or the speaker-to-line level converter is not a good one, producing low level signal .

Have you checked the filters? I'm not familiar with that amp but I'm pretty sure all amps nowadays have some kind of filter. Maybe it's highpassed? Instead of lowpassed?

LOL!

I think you should listen to VP Electricity, and go and see a pro, before you waste more money on something that may not be the problem. It seems that you have a set up problem, or the equipment is incorrectly installed.

THIS IS AN EASY FIX, the only way to have optimal bass in your cabin is to face the subs firing directly into the cabin (forward facing) rather than against your trunk. seal off the face of the box using either foam or dynamat and you will have a great sounding system . the biggest problem is the sealed trunk. if you are not willing to change your setup, cut through the rear deck panel to get the sound out of the trunk.

im running 2 12'' jl w7s with 1000 watts to each, its worked great

hope it helps

Cutting a hole in the rear deck will do absolutely nothing. You can gain a few dbs by corner loading, a more powerful amp will make a slight difference just don't overpower the sub you'll only get about 2dbs going from 150 watts to 250 watts which is less than what youll get from corner loading. That is however if everything is hooked up correctly which theres a high possibility is not. The trunk is sealed pretty good and the only real solution that I've found to that is folding down the seats. If I were you I'd listen to vp and have someone more knowledgable take a look at it before spending more money on it.

So if we get good bass with 250 watts to a single 10" that isn't firing directly into the cabin... we're really lucky?

Does it really matter where you aim two 12W7 with 2000W? Seriously?

i would say you are, at first i had them firing into the trunk and all i got was rattle from the trunk and very low SPL. this tends to apply to larger boxes because they prevent further airflow into the cabin when firing into the trunk, a single 10 in the corner may work alright but i can guarantee that running the sub firing forwards with the trunk sealed would sound at least 2 times louder and provide much cleaner SQ. just my .02

the trunk is sealed, cutting into the rear deck allows airflow into the cabin, i have learned this from experience, and at 152 dbs i can assure you it helps

OP read every word that VP wrote, do what he says, it will work out.

For comparison, I have 2 10" in my trunk 250w at RMS each, powered by dual channel MTX sub amp which I have on close to minimum gain setting. I feel clean bass in my chest! If you have underseat subs, tap those wires, if not tap the wires going to your largest speakers, and pay attention to polarity

VP is right, low frequencies travel in all directions. High frequencies are directional. My subs fire posterior, and I "feel" the bass just as good as them firing toward the front.

Other than competing in db where you wouldn't be in the car anyways, why would you want it to get that loud?

I've actually cut the rear deck and put a speaker grille there. It made no difference at all. I actually regret doing it but it looks stock anyways.

look im not trying to cause problems all i know is that on my e90, when i had 2000 watts running to 2 12 w7s firing towards the trunk the bass did penetrate to the cabin, but was not nearly as loud as they were firing forwards. this may be a result of the size of my box. when firing backwards the bass had to travel through 6 cu/ft of wood (esentially), then through the seats that are reinforced. porting the sub through the rear deck is an excellent option if your box is large. might just be my setup, but its most definetly worth a try.

check out my build pics, page 3 is of my original setup, page 2 is my current setup
