Nice! I'm anxious to see the difference. I still think the car is fast with the stock tune.

the 93 oct is shocking. Your traction control and engine will be having some heated debates.

I come from a Subby background as well and these are some very impression numbers for a Stage 1 tune. I looked at some of your other posts and (correct me if I am wrong) but it appears that you are running the "Stage 1 93 Octane v2.02, with throttle map v2"?

Cobb just recently released a new map revision, 2.03. This map has some updates specific for AT equipped vehicles that includes reverting the rev limiters back to stock settings and revising torque reduction logic. This was done to "eliminate the "rough shift" and poor shifting experienced during full throttle driving and shifting at redline".

If you take a look at the map notes for v2.03 it appears that Cobb has also downgraded the power output for AT equipped vehicles using the Stage 1 map. The MT Stage 1 v2.03 maps show an approximate power increase of 30% HP / 38% lb-ft over stock. But the AT Stage 1 v2.02 maps show an approximate power increase of 24% HP / 35% lb-ft.

Have you experienced these "shift issues"?

Do you plan on upgrading to the v2.03 or v3.00 (which I think has the same perimeters as v2.03 but works with the new firmware update) maps?

Looking at drag times posted on this forum it appears that AT equipped cars are posting better numbers. I am curious if the power reduction in the v2.03/ v3.00 maps will now result in slower times for those with ATs and change this dynamic?

At the time I took it to the track I am really not sure what map revision I was using. For some reason I think it was V 2.01 It was not a v2 since I dont like the dull pedal/ acceleration feel. I don't think V 3.0 maps have any performance enhancements. I think it just added more logging capability. I have recently updated to the stage 1 V2.03 map and it feels ok to me. I have since upgraded my suspension and wheels/tires so I hope to get to the track in september. I did not notice the power reduction in the notes for 2.03 but I am interested to see how that changes the track times.

Do you recall if you updated to the AT-specific Stage 1 93 Octane v2.03 map or the regular Stage 1 v2.03 map (which appears to have become a MT-specific map without being labeled as such)?

You may still be able to use the regular v2.03 map if you did not see the "rough shifting" issues that prompted the creation of the AT-specific updates.

I believe you are correct about the v3.00 maps. I think they just allow you to take advantage of the new parameters you can log with the recent firmware update.

I am very curious to see what times you will post if you do indeed have the new AT-specific Stage 1 map. The 3-6% power reduction may wreck your dyno sheet but may prove inconsequential on the track. You never know. I will keep an eye out for your new track times this month.

Hey guys,
I just updated the firmware on my AP and loaded the v3 maps.
I had been running the v202 with alternate throttle mapping for a while, so going back to the standard map was interesting. Anyway, left for Chicago, and while at very light throttle on 5th gear (around 80mph) the car went in limp mode with the half-power indicator. I pulled over, and the idling was very erratic. Shut off and restarted the car and it was ok again. This happened twice on a similar situation. Light throttle on 5th gear at around 80-85 mph.
Very disappointing to have to drive 1 1/2 hours on cruise control at 80mph. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but with the v202 maps, I never had this problem. The car runs fine on lower gears and on WOT there's no issues.
Anyway, I just wanted to know if it's ok to install the v202 maps on this new firmware? Will my cruise control stop working? This was the main reason why I loaded the v3 maps, and would hate to loose it again.

EDIT: I scanned for codes just now and had the 2D59 one. Hopefully Cobb will have updated maps to fix this soon.

Thanks
-dp

I've been running the v3 map for a bit now. Is it just my car or do other folks feel that the shifting in DS mode is way too "jerky"? Nowhere near smooth

Got my car back from the dealer and they couldn't duplicate my studder/CEL/limp mode problem under WOT. No wonder since I can't duplicate it either when running stock. Just re-installed Stg 1 93 v.203 and same shit happens first time I floor it. Actually, it was already running rough under normal load as well. I put in Shell 93 so it ain't the gas either. This is utterly frustrating! COBB....???

Have you replaced your spark plugs yet? There should be a sticky for first time modders to replace spark plugs. 9/10 that is the cause of problems. Spark plugs over 20K miles resulting in problems should be replaced.

If not its your HPFP, Coilpacks, or injectors.

Had them replaced less than 5000 miles ago, along with HPFP. Never had a problem until the dealer had it abut a month ago and performed an ECU update. 9/10 it is a problem between ECU and COBB...

There is something in the new BMW software that is messing with some cars. It seems that the people that have tunes feel it more because the increased hp and torque make it more noticeable. I am not sure iof that is what you are having with your car.
Do you have any problems with surging or oscillation when you accelerate at around 3000-4500 rpm in 3rd gear and up?

That leaves injectors or coilpacks. Unless you are on some Beta map from Cobb?

Yep, and COBB mentioned that to me over the phone. I'm a bit pissed though that they have not acknowledged anything like that on the boards. There have been plenty of threads and posts documenting this very problem. It was virtually non-existant until about 6 months ago... that rules out hardware in my book!

I installed my COBB tune on Friday and went with the V300 93 octane map. Everything went well with the install and the AP did not pick up any codes. The install couldn't have possibly been easier.

I am truly amazed at how much more power my 335i is putting down now. Gears 1-4 really throw you back in your seat when you are at 3k+ RPM's. I haven't done much in terms of getting on it from a dead stop but one thing that I can say is that it seems like it gets from about 20-80mph in the blink of an eye.

Another thing that I've noticed is if you are at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and let off the gas it feels as if you hit the brakes. I am assuming that this is just due to going from 14+ psi's to 0 when you let off the gas but can someone else confirm that this is normal? Overall, I'm a very happy customer.

Thanks COBB!
