+1 more info needed... Are we talking about clipping the turbine, or something more substantial...

There is a thread that I posted with RB's analysis on upgrading stock turbos. Would be interesting to see your analysis and what you found in R&D.

If I can get a turbo that makes 500whp on a mustang dyno with linear powerband, I'd pay lots

thats a nasty number to get on a mustang dyno... my dyno kinda showed that a fbo n55 with a little more tuning may reach 330 whp max on a mustang. At that point the stock turbo is just out of breath! My guess is if your going to go much higher than that, your tq would be insane as mine was already 382 wtq and i'd start to worry bout internals / clutch etc...

I want to see what a clipped stock wheel would do. Wonder if it's the impeller side holding things back.

Not necessarily Sloppy. The issue is that our stock turbo's make power very early and run out of breath up top. If you can HOLD 400TQ all the way to redline, you'll make a ridiculous amount of HP. Simply, HP is a function of TQ x RPM. Therefore if you can maintain high TQ at a high RPM, your making a lot of HP.

So...

All we need is a turbo that doesn't run out of breath up top. Then we are golden.

You would make 500hp if you could make 400tq at 6565rpm.

yes.... too bad that what makes torque at certain RPM's are the cam design and the intake runners size not the boost
