bimmersport says wg rattle is normal
Had a PPI done at bimmersport. They conclude wg rattle is "within spec". Does that make any sense? Most people in US get new turbos from even slight rattling.

But this is Canada and we have no such warranty. You either have to deal with it or shell out for new ones and even then, there's no guarantee you'll be rattle free. I'm at 160km, OG turbos, Cobb tuned for the last 50km and mine only rattles until the car warms up. I've learned to deal.

Not true
I complained about my WG rattle and I got brand new turbos for $57.50 tax included!! New coolant flush, alignment and all that too I was under CPO. So my car is currently 141k and I got new turbos at 120k! |

With private warranty it's about getting the right opinion and even then they may want to send out their own mechanic appraiser. |

I "mentioned" that the WG was rattling to the SA when my car was in for service and they replaced them under CPO warranty; no complaining required. However, within 6 mos., the rattle was back so I've learned to live with it since it only rattles within the first minute of startup; after the idle drops, it goes away. I never did notice any drivability difference after the new turbos were installed. |

But the OP says it's a private sale and didn't mention any warranty. There's still no extended warranty in Canada like there is in the US. In the US, anybody can have their turbos replaced as long as they're within the mileage window set by BMW but I must say, it's great that you guys got yours taken care of. If you weren't CPO though, I bet your response to this thread would be different.

For op. If you have a jb4, check your FUD (Future use D) if it's at 98, set it to 0, or if it's at 0, set it to 98. That fixed my waste gate rattle, where menu 10 and 12 wouldn't do nothing for me.

Also got my A/C evaporator replaced under CPO at the same time, so the warranty was well worth it ... close to 10g's in repairs! And Mississauga BMW gave me a loaner for almost a week. |
