Waxing Alpine White 335i

I was looking to wax my car myself the Product I want to use is Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax its a one step Wax. I will be using a hand buffer very lightly and doing one section at a time then wipe off. Does this sound ok?

Ok. so applying wax is best done by hand. forget the buffer thing. doesn't take too long. its has to be spread very thin, if its thick it doesn't mean more protection, just a waste of product. (more is not better). Finally leave the wax around 10-15 mins till it drys and do the swipe test (take one finger and swipe the paint, if its clear then the wax is ready to be removed, if its hazy then leave longer. i would do around 2 coats of wax. and even better would be to buy a sealant such as Chemguys Jetseal 109 or nanolex then put wax over. the seals usually last 6 months where as wax is 1 month.

Should I apply the sealant before waxing or after waxing? BTW the car is already washed and the shine on the car is still pretty good. Think its just the quality of the BMW paint and clearcoats.

I recently polished my car and from what I have read through researching this forum and others is that the sealant goes on BEFORE the wax. check the sticky up at the top too. I believe its in there somewhere.

If your going to buy a Meg's wax, get nxt 2.0 tech-wax instead of ULW

NXT is better on lighter colors and is better at water beading. If I were you though, I would invest in something better like a sealant. Tech wax is not really a wax or a sealant and does not last too long, at least that was my experience with it.

Remember sealant works best when applied to clean paint that has been clayed and polished so it bonds with the paint better.

Then wax.

cant just wash the car use a cleaner wax, then apply sealant, then wax? Or is there a good one step product I can use on a Alpine White car?

I have just detailed my MW 328 and a AW 335.. I used a sealent on both (2coats) Did not use a wax, but I have heard that Dodo Juice Lite wax is good for a lite colored car. I'm thinking of trying Dodo next time. Again paint prep is important in getting the best results of any wax or sealent.
