I feel your pain. I had a regular 996 spin out in front of me early last year at PCA event; it's not the best feeling. Here's me @ turn 7 on NJMP Lightning:

In all seriousness I went and found the driver of this Spec 996 and apologized for not braking more to let him pass and get set up for the corner; granted he should have just braked and not tried to get fully left before throwing it right while trail braking, which was his mistake. But I don't think he would have done any of that if I wasn't crowding him into the corner entry. I thought he would come by me more strongly than he did so I didn't brake much, just let off.

He was pushing pretty hard trying to keep up with that corvette which is what led to his error.

Sounds like a noob mistake, purposely trying to get over to the left for the late apex. He has to learn how to do a late pass and take a turn off line which means get in position first but alter your speed.

Yep he should have braked and chopped the corner entry, but I think he wanted to complete the pass and not worry about going through the corner side by side with me. So he tried to get fully in front then take the speedy line.

Definitely a mistake on his part, luckily he didn't hit anything.

Didn't need to apologize at all (but gentleman of you to do so). Any spec driver in a non-beginner group needs to know better how to control the car. In fact, he should know how to pass you while you're head to head with him, let alone while you're blocking him. All other 996 spec racers will not spoon feed him every corner like that.

Instead of dive bombing you he should have taken that turn at a slower speed off racing line. I have done it many times in case of taking late point by. Noob mistake by That porsche.

Generally during HPDEs the advanced group has open passing. Meaning you better know what you're doing if you're gonna run advanced. At my last event there was a first timer that thought he was advanced because "i hit the canyons all the time brah" the rest of us in the group quickly discovered this, he was black flagged and given the option to go beginner or go home. douchebag on the track douchebag off the track caused a scene and left, everyone was happy. lol

Nice video. As previously mentioned ITT, there was some questionable passing seen the video. That first 911 that the E46 M3 and yourself were behind should have given you both the point-by ages ago! That Spec P-car came in way too hot on the inside, I agree with others saying that it would have been safer to tuck into the corner more slowly (it still would not have even been two-wide, you gave him enough room IMO) instead of trying to get completely past before setting up for the corner. Was s/he on cold tires just getting on to the track, or were they just behind you in traffic and eventually caught up? Fortunately, there looked to be a good amount of run-off room if necessary, and you were on your toes, so no one had their day ruined (except maybe their ego a little).

The spec 996 had been on the track and caught us, but they did come out late. They had maybe done a lap or two.

I don't think there was anything particularly risky there; we saw both the corvette and 911 coming and made room for them, and it was pretty obvious he was spinning right away. People screw up and go off track at track events, it happens. It wouldn't be fun if everyone drove single file and never messed up

Agreed, P car late passing should have kept his line on the right. I guess he was pissed, a cheap corvette was owning him

To his credit, he saved it, either by luck or by skill.

I lucid dream once in a while. I love the how you stared the Porsche and then carried on like nothing happened, but if that was me on the track I would most likely do this and my reaction to a car messing up would the same.

Sent that video to a friend of mine, and he said at the next AutoX if the weather is conducive to it, that he would drop the top and start shouting at cones and calling them his "NEMESIS!!!!" and doing the maniacal laugh as he crosses the finish line. Hopefully one of us will bring our Go-Pro's for some laughs.
