Doc says 10min to index 8GB USB stick... imagine you connect 80G hard drive that would make 100min to index, if the internal database of the 6fl option can handle a so large index ??? to be tested...

That may be true but I'm also not an iPod owner. Yeah they have something like 80% of the market but I like my Creative Zen. Therefore iPod adapter doesn't help me much. Sure I can use aux input but then I can't control through iDrive.

Talked to the parts guy at Irvine BMW on Saturday. He said that this would not come out. "The best things come to those that wait."

For some reason I believe the US stereo is different than Europe.

There are lower market radio versions available in Europe that are not available in the US. It appears that this retrofit is available ONLY for those versions. The radio versions that ARE available in the US are also available in Europe but the retrofit is not compatible with these on either continent.

yes, you are correct. Checked with my dealer in Canada and they only have it for non-Idrive models.

To clarify: NO USB option?

I just want to clarify. I have an '06 e90 330i with idrive/logic7. I do NOT have 6FL. --> Does that mean I have NO retrofit kit available from BMW that allows me to connect a USB drive?

Keith,

I also have a proffesional BMW radio with no Nav or CD Changer. I contacted BM Dealer and they gave me the same part number : 65410427467. As per your manual, the proffesional radio is not supported. Is there anything else I can do to get the proffessional radio to interface to an iPod whilst still using the steering controls?? The aux jack works but you still need to change the songs on the iPod unit. This is not a neat solution.

Regards

Hi there,

Does iPod Retrofit kit part number 65410427467 work on Proffesional Radio without idrive and Nav or CD changer.

Thank you for your email to BMW Customer Information.

We are pleased to confirm that we do supply a fully integrated retrofit kit to allow you to connect an iPod to your BMW.

Over the past 18 months, BMW has been working in close co-operation with Apple in order to create an iPod connector solution which will allow full integration of the iPod MP3 player into the new generation of BMW models.

The result of this close relationship is an advanced connector system which allows full iPod functionality via BMW’s innovative i-Drive control. This allows display of the iPods’ musical content onto the vehicles on board display (dependent on vehicle specification), or directly onto the radio display with control via the audio system or multi-function steering wheel (if equipped).

The new iPod interface will allow connection of the Apple iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini and iPod video.

The music stored on the iPod (up to a 15,000 songs) can be played via the audio system whilst also providing a charging facility for the iPod’s internal battery. By selecting genres, artists, albums or play lists or Pod casts, it is possible to access your entire music collection at any time.

The iPod interface supports the following functions:

• Playback of all tracks stored in the iPod

• Operation of the iPod interface via i-Drive controller, multi-function steering wheel or radio

• Track search by artist, album, play list or genre using the on-board monitor or radio display

• Podcast playback

• SC/SCAN: Play the tracks in the current list for 10 seconds each

• RND/RANDOM: Random playback of all tracks stored in the iPod

• RPT/REPEAT: Repeat the current track

• Track jump: Jump to the next or previous track

• Fast forward

• Display of detailed information about the current track (artist and time index)

• Charge the iPod battery

The iPod interface can be connected with the following equipment:

- E87/E90 Professional radio (SA663), Business navigation (SA606) or Professional navigation (SA609)

- E6x Business radio, Professional radio (SA663), Business navigation (SA606) or Professional navigation (SA609) car.

The iPod connector is located in the glove compartment in all vehicles. Once connected to the iPod unit it can be stowed away without the need for any further interaction.

If the iPod interface is retrofitted to a car with a BMW CD changer (SA672), the CD changer must be disconnected at the CD Changer first. It is not possible to operate the BMW CD changer (SA672) and the iPod interface at the same time.

Prices for the kit are as follows:

Part number Model Description RRP inc VAT

65 41 0 412 881 E87, E90, 91, E92, E65 £195.00

65 41 0 412 881 E60, E61, E63, E64 without CDC (SA672)/(SA694) £195.00

65 41 0 415 655 E60, E61, E63, E64 with CDC (SA672)/(SA694) £195.00

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

So I'm an active Member of the VX220 Forum which is my weekend toy however I'm new to this site.

I need a bit of help please.

I am picking up my new e91 320D MSport on Thursday - I have made a massive mistake when spec'ing the car and allthough I have Harmon Kardon and Prof Sat Nav / Multimedia I failded to spec the USB to connect my IPOD - Now the dealer is telling me it's going to be £700 to dealer fit the USB so I can put the IPOD on the screen of the Nav - I have searched on here and found this post - I'm I right in understanding that with the Prof Sat Nav I can order this and connect IPOD into glove box and put it up through the sat Nav screen?

I know I can use the standard aux but I'm pissed that with £2000 of sat nav I cant play my IPOD on the system due to me thinking that with £2000 system the USB was included - I've spoken with the dealer but they say that 65410427467 does not support Prof system

Thanks for any help you can give
