Spotted/Followed - E92 Alpina last night (now X5/X6 chat)

On M2 southbound last night, there was a lovely looking Alpine E92 in black/graphite. Caught up with it and followed for a while at "ahem" mph... I don't know what version it was, it only has ALPINA on the back, twin exhaust on left hand side. He couldn't pull away from me (and I couldn't pass), so can't have been a full fat version.

Looked lovely though and enjoyed the short hoon...

That'll be the D3 biturbo in E92 form if its got a pair of exhaust tips on the left hand side.

Well.... it's pretty quick... but I guess he has a 600kg weight advantage and aerodynamic !!! LOL

We were going up hill, both EXACTLY matched acceleration... maybe I would have gained a bit if going down hill

What engine are you running?
The biturbo is 214bhp standard, about 240-250 remapped. Not many out there and even fewer that have been modified. Not bad for a 2.0 diesel!

Running the 30d (single turbo) in the X6

I did a standing start last night and got the following:

0-60 mph - 6.05 sec (pre remap 7.90 sec)
60' - 2.10 sec @ 29mph
330' - 6.00 sec @ 58.4mph
Max acceleration - 0.81 G's

Not too bad for a 2,150kg 4x4 that's now returning 28.8mpg average

Do another dynolicious run and if its even within 20% of those figures, you've done well

Dynolicious results are very accurate. I used it a few times at Santa Pod in the M3 and the results were staggeringly accurate.

I recon if I did another couple tonight they would be within 0.2 secs, depending if it's wet or not

I have the evolve map (345bhp/730nm) on the X5 35d and I do not think it would have taken anywhere near 2 secs off the 0-60 time.

I got non-remapped times of 7 secs for 0-60 (using BEL FX2 accelerometer) and have not yet tried it with the map. I was thinking it would defo not be as low as 6 though.

By your results I should be getting under 6 ???????

Did another run last night, but was pretty brutal with the foot brake and loud pedal this time... I could hear Carlos in my head saying "just fookin let it have it!"

Almost identical time, 5.92 seconds. The best I could get out of the M3 if I remember correctly was 4.8x seconds... but there was always loads of wheel spin

I recon the 50mph+ acceleration will be far better with the 35d as you get another 1,000rpm to play with... so would pull away well as the speed increases.

I'm super impressed with the 30d engine though - sounds quite nice too
