remote key will not open door locks

Hello everyone! I need some input as to what could it be. I have 07 335 sedan and all of a sudden, both car key remotes will not open the door locks. The button inside the car too will not open door locks either. I have been using the manual key to open the driver door and the button inside can close it but not open any doors. Sometimes, the auto door lock will not operate when the car is moving. Very intermittent. The passenger doors cannot be opened from inside too! Only the driver side door can be opened from inside. The only one that can be accessible. Was told by the BMW service that it is not a safety concern but I had it booked to be looked at next week. Any thoughts as to what it might be. Much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think it is the fuse because it locks the driver door when I use remote and I can hear that the solenoid activates when you press lock and unlock clicks. But yes, it is already booked for an appointment to the dealer. It is just very inconvenient because I can't drive it with any passenger. But thanks for your inputs. I'll post when I find out when I bring it in for service.

i had this problem just the other day.. your fuse that operates that central locking system has blown, this can be replaced in a few seconds at any dealership (they should do it for free) and another note bcos the fuse has blown its likely your motor for the lock on the drivers door needs replacing aswell and that means you'll have to give it to the dealer for at least a day!! o and you might wanna get that fuse changed ASAP before next week as you wont be able to open your petrol tank!

I can't open petrol door anymore. My wife was going to put gas in and found that she can't open the petrol door. She called the dealer service and found out too that there is the manual override to open the petrol door. After all of these, now, my wife's memory seat setting is not working. Only mine. Even though she pressed the memory seat button for her setting.

Door lock actuators are dieing if not dead already, its a known issue with pre 08 E90's. Dealer should be able to fix this in under a day.

just got the call back from the dealer and you guys are right. Door lock actuators and fuse are gone. Where is the door lock actuator and fuses located? Dealer has to order the part and the wife got a 09 335d as a loaner. Thanks a lot for all your inputs.

This happened to me twice. One of the door lock actuators was defective and causing the circuit to overload burning out one of the fuses. Believe it or not, there are 3 fuses that are used to guard different aspects of the lock system. Way to go BMW on a nice, simple design. The dealer finally figured out which actuator was the culprit on my second visit. It's been about a year since I had this fixed and so far so good.

just got this problem fixed last week.

took them 1.5 weeks to get my car in @ autowest and could not even offer me a courtesy car.

had to complain to the service manager before they would even get me a rental.

i can understand its a manufacturer defect, fine. but at least back it up with some service.

autowest bmw sucks.

Thumbs down

This happened to me twice and it was NOT FUN at all to squeeze two kids and wife through the driver door for two weekends !!! thanks to Downtown BMW for doing such a shitty job !! the first time they only replaced 2 actuators even though I told them that this is a known problem and they needed to replace all 4 actuators !!! sure enough one of the other 2 actuators they didn't replace blew up just a few weeks after !!! this second time BMW Downtown Toronto replaced all 4 actuators (so they say) but in doing that they screwed up one of the rear doors which can now only be opened from inside !!! Imagine the fun holding a baby and trying to open the rear door from inside !!!

I am on my third time of having my door locks go out. I just keep fuses readily available in my glove box...just like when I was 16 driving my old beater...HA!

There is a SIB regarding this: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B511907g.htm

There is an issue and it should be resolved the proper way so just make sure if it happens again you can bring this to their attention. I have also found that once this starts happening it typically becomes an issue with the car which I suspect is the reason it calls for a 20A Fuse vs. 15A in the SIB.

remote key will not open door locks

Hi, I just encountered this problem yesterday.

My 4-year warranty just expired less than a month ago. Is this covered problem covered by the 4-year warranty only (i.e. 8-year specific control device warranty offered by BMW)?

What would it cost to replace the fuse and 4 actuators. Also, I'm wondering if I should still bring it to the dealership since the 4-year warranty has expired or to any reputable independant dealer, any thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

Fuse 57 was the culprit for me.
