F32 shift knob and ebrake retrofit into e92 w/ red stitching

So this was my weekend project. I purchased a stock 4 series shift knob w/ boot and ebrake w/ boot from another member on the 4 series forums and took on the challenge of retrofitting both into my car. (Not sure if retrofitting is the correct term but whatever lol). So in the pictures below you can see how the shift boot base has a different shape for both the F32 and E92, the ebrakes are also different from each other but I didnt get a picture of that. Getting the new boots to fit on the bases from the e92 was a bit of a challenge but it is doable.

Before I replaced the boots I decided I wanted to get rid of the boring black stitching and replace it with some red stitching. This is the first thing I have ever sewn by hand, I even needed to youtube how to thread a needle but I am really happy with how it came out.

Overall I'm very happy with the outcome, they both came out looking great and damn near OEM. The ebrake has a great feel to it, and the leather that is used feels and looks really nice. Also the knob definitely has more weight to it then my OEM knob.

Let me know what you guys think, enjoy

The stitching looks great! Never thought of attempting this before but now I'm definitely interested. After all if I can stitch patients, I should be able to do some pieces of leather, lol.

Thanks! The ebrake was a real PITA because they're not that similar in size or shape, the F32 is much bigger than the e92

It really wasn't that bad, it was just very time consuming. I would say probably 4-5 hours just of sewing. But then again I really had no clue what I was doing. I probably made it really difficult on myself but It held and looked good on the outside so that's all that really mattered to me

I'm not sure if the machine would be better or worst, I used the existing holes to restitch it, I have no clue if a sewing machine will be able to do that and what not.
